Betting Tip: Blackburn v Crewe

League One promotion hopefuls Blackburn will look to take a stride further in the FA Cup this season as they get a favourable home tie in the second round on the weekend. Rovers get a turn against Crewe who are having a rough old time of things in League Two. The Railwaymen have been floundering badly and they may have a tough time in finding any relief in this cup tie. Rovers are 3/10 odds on favourites with Crewe at 8.

Blackburn Form

Rovers are going well in League One where they are on a four-match winning streak at the moment and they are the joint second-highest scorers in the division. Their powerful scoring output is probably going to cause Crewe some headaches. At Ewood Park recently, Rovers have gone five games unbeaten there, but they have only kept the one clean sheet in that sequence so both teams to score may be worth a flutter. However, Rovers have scored at least two goals in each of their last four home fixtures. In the last round of the FA Cup, they took out League Two opposition in Barnet who are worse off than Crewe are in the division.

Crewe Form

The Railwaymen have lost five of their last six league games and that is because their defence has pretty much been all over the place recently. Crewe’s overall record since the start of September is W5 L14. If you break it down and solely look at their away form this entire season, Crewe are W2 L8 on the road. It’s bad and it makes them thoroughly unreliable in this fixture. They got through the first round of the FA Cup proper with a 2-1 home win over Rotherham who in League One, so that was a bit of an upset there from the Railwaymen. But they are likely to find Blackburn in much less forging of a mood at Ewood Park.

Head to Head News

There is a little bit of history between the two sides with Blackburn leading the overall head to head 4-2 with two drawn matches. They met last year in the EFL Cup and Blackburn took a 4-3 win in that one and the last time they met in the FA Cup was back in 1993 and Blackburn won that game 3-0. The head to head is at one win each from their two previous FA Cup clashes.

Top Betting Tips

Blackburn are likely going to be too much for the visiting Crewe to handle. The defence of Crewe is all over the place at the best of times and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Rovers run up a few goals in this one. Crewe have scored in each of their last seven fixtures in all competitions, so back a home win with both teams to score.
