Adonis Hurdle 2018 Main Contenders
Redicean
Won two of his ten races on the flat, one each for Peter Chapple-Hyam and David O’Meara. However, he’s won both his hurdles races by 10-lengths for current trainer Alan King here at Kempton, with both those races on soft round. The bookies are unlikely to take any chances with him as he bids to give Alan King a fourth winner in 15 years.
Malaya
Didn’t win either of his starts on the flat in France but did win a Listed Hurdle before being purchased to be trained in England by Paul Nicholls. Beaten by Gumball on his English debut and then got off the mark at the second time of asking before only being able to finish second last time when odds-on. Given 11-weeks off prior to this race and, as Paul Nicholls has trained four of the last nine winners, it will be interesting to see if he comes in for support.
Ballywood
Possible second-string for Alan King, but he’s yet to race for him after being transferred from France where he finished first, second and third in three hurdle races. Had a 110-day break to acclimatise to his new surroundings and another worth keeping an eye on in the market.
Beau Gosse
Potential French raider who has been beaten twice since winning a Listed Hurdle in France. His Trainer is a big source of the many horses that come from France to be trained in England so it’s interesting that his French trainer still apparently trains this one.
Embole
Big-prices when down the field in two class 2 hurdles on his first two starts for Dan Skelton. However, he seemed to improve for a wind operation when winning a class 4 hurdle last time. This a big step up in class again so looks to need to find more improvement.
Grand Sancy
A second possible runner for Paul Nicholls but this one has yet to win a race. Sent-off the weak second-favourite for his last two races and, after finishing second in both, has a bit to find.
Adonis Hurdle 2018 Horse Racing Preview And Betting Tip
This doesn’t look the strongest renewal of the Adonis Hurdle in recent years and, though Redicean faces several rivals with potential, he’s the right favourite as he bids to make it three out of three over course and distance. Adonis Hurdle 2018 Tip: Redicean
