No one really considered Turkey as a team that can go this far in the tournament, but Vincenzo Montella’s team will try to go even deeper when they face the Netherlands in the quarterfinal at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on July 6th.
Netherlands vs Turkey: Initial situation
The Netherlands had the most dominant performance of all teams in the round of 16 stage and are huge favorites in the game against Turkey. Turkey had ups and downs in the previous games in the tournament, but they definitely have the quality to be competitive in this game.
Netherlands Stats & Form
The Netherlands made it to the round of 16 as the third-placed team in their group, but they were so dominant in the last game, sending everyone a message that they are here to win. The Netherlands dominated the pitch all 90 minutes in a 3-0 win over Romania. Cody Gakpo put the Netherlands on the board with a goal in the 20th minute. Romania had hopes to equalize, but once they went all-in on offense, Donyell Malen scored twice in the last ten minutes to set the final score.
The Netherlands bounced back after losing 3-2 to Austria in their last game of the group stage. The Netherlands tied the score twice during the game but could not do that after Austria scored their third goal.
In the second match of the group against France, both teams were more focused on defending their own goal rather than scoring, which was the reason why the game finished with no goals. The Netherlands got the job done in the opening game of the tournament, beating Poland 2-1 despite allowing the first goal.
The Netherlands have seven wins, one draw, and two losses in the last ten games. In eight of their last nine games, there have been at least three goals in total.
Turkey Stats & Form
Turkey is coming off one of the biggest wins in their football history, reaching the quarterfinal stage for the second time ever. The round of 16 matchup against Austria was one of the most interesting in the tournament so far, with Turkey taking a 2-0 lead but barely escaping with a 2-1 win in the end. Merih Demiral scored both goals for Turkey, with the first one being the second fastest in the history of the tournament as he hit the net in the 58th second.
That was Turkey’s second consecutive win as they beat the Czech Republic 2-1 in the last match of the group stage to qualify for the knockout stage. Turkey’s vulnerability was evident in the 3-0 loss to Portugal, where they were absolutely dominated. Still, that wasn’t a big problem after Turkey started the tournament with a 3-1 win over Georgia.

Betting tip and prediction: Netherlands vs Turkey (06.07.2024)
Both teams have been away from the final stages of the elite tournament for a while now, and it feels like their young rosters have finally matured and are ready to reach the final four of the EURO. The Netherlands absolutely dominated their round of 16 game against Romania, while Turkey was very lucky in the end, holding on to the lead against Austria.
Anyway, those games are in the books now, and both teams are focusing on the next round. They are both offensively oriented teams with fast transitions from the defense to offense. They often skip the midfield and can quickly get into the penalty box. The importance of the game may slow down the pace at the beginning of the game, but things will fire up as time goes by.
The Netherlands is the team that possesses the extra quality over Turkey, and that will make the difference in this game. They are able to push hard for the entire 90 minutes, and Turkey’s defense would not be able to hold on, which will put the Netherlands through to the semifinals.
