Betting Tip: Leicester v Manchester City

Runaway leaders Manchester City head to Leicester City this weekend looking to continue their superb form this season. Pep Guardiola’s side currently lead the way at the top of the Premier League table by eight points and are unbeaten in all competitions this season. On Saturday they come up against a resurgent Leicester City side who are unbeaten since former Southampton Claude Puel took over at the club. This could be an exciting game between two sides who like to get plenty of numbers forward in attack.

Leicester City

Leicester City have been much improved under Claude Puel and are unbeaten in their last five matches in the Premier League. Last time out they drew 2-2 away at Stoke City in a hugely entertaining encounter in which the Foxes led twice before being pegged back by Stoke. Puel seems to be getting the best out of star men Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez and Leicester City fans will be hoping that they can cause the league leaders plenty of problems this weekend with their pace and movement.

Manchester City

Manchester City come into this game in irresistible form, having won ten and drawn one of their 11 matches so far in the league. Last time out they picked up a comfortable 3-1 win against Arsenal to extend their lead at the top of the table. It is difficult to see where a defeat is coming from for Pep Guardiola as his side just seem too good right now. Sergio Aguero fainted whilst on international duty with Argentina, but the striker is expected to be fit to face the Foxes this weekend and it will be a straight shoot out between him and Gabriel Jesus to see who starts up front.

Talking Points

Manchester City have scored a stunning 38 goals in their 11 matches this season, 15 more than anyone else in the league.

  1. Leicester have won two of their last three Premier League meetings with Manchester City, including a 4-2 win in this exact fixture last campaign, in which Jamie Vardy scored to date his only Premier League hat-trick.
  2. Manchester City are looking to record a tenth straight victory in the Premier League, only Everton and Wolves have held them to draws this season.

Prediction

Manchester City have been absolutely superb recently, sweeping aside all before them with their irresistible attacking play. Despite Leicester City’s recent good form and their good record against The Citizens, it is hard to foresee anything other than a Manchester City victory in this game. In Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Leroy Sane, David Silva, Raheem Sterling and Kevin de Bruyne, Manchester City have one of the best front six in world football and they will have too much for this Leicester City backline.

Betting Tips

Manchester City start this game as big favourites at odds of 2/5, whilst a home victory for Leicester City is priced up at 17/2 with the draw available at 4. Manchester City have dominated games this season and the HT/FT bet of Man City/Man City at 10/11 looks like a decent bet to me as I expect them to be winning both halves of this match. In terms of goalscorers, Leroy Sane has been superb in recent weeks and you can get him at odds of 21/20 to score at anytime and that also looks like a solid bet.
