Betting Tip: Tranmere v Peterborough

It’s round two for these in the FA Cup after a recent 1-1 draw at London Road. The Posh were frustrated on home soil by their non-league opposition. Now things get a little bit tricky for Peterborough who have to go to Prenton Park. So the opportunity of claiming a major scalp is now ahead for Tranmere. Can they land themselves in the second round draw? The home side are running as 13/5 underdogs as they are well down the football tiers compared to Peterborough, with the Posh trading at even money. A trip to Woking or Bury awaits the winner in the next round.

Tranmere Form

National League side Tranmere produced an equaliser in the first leg through substitute Andy Cook who had only been on the pitch four minutes. Rovers had been heavy underdogs for that game against League One opposition, but they stuck in there and now get a good payday at home. They have been in decent form and didn’t take their eye off the ball in putting up a 2-0 home win over Dagenham & Redbridge in the league following that draw with Boro. Tranmere are now unbeaten in four games and have lost just one of their last nine. However, there has been just the one clean sheet in their last six which may ultimately come back and hurt them.

Peterborough Form

The Posh had a great start to the season but they have been struggling since around mid-September. They have only picked up the two victories in their last ten games across all competitions now, losing four of those. So they aren’t carrying the greatest of form at the moment and that could make them a little vulnerable. They have only taken the one win in their last seven away games in all competitions as well (D2 L2). Defensively they have been a bit shaky and both teams to score for 4/6 looks appealing here. Boro were second best in terms of possession at home against Tranmere.

Head to Head News

The two clubs were together in the 2013/14 League One season so you can see how much Tranmere have dropped since then. Peterborough won both league games against Rovers that season along with a thumping FA Cup win over them in the same season. They have won four of the last five meetings but there were matched by their lower-ranked opponents a couple of weekends ago.

Top Betting Tips

Rovers had their chances in that first attempt to take out the League One opposition and they have to be value to get closer to that again, as the Posh aren’t carrying great form. Expect the drama to go on past the 90 minutes as Rovers look good for at least a draw on home soil in this one. A Tranmere Double Chance is at 5/6.
