Houston Rockets vs San Antonio Spurs: Current situation
At 1-1 SU after the all-star break the Rockets have taken a bit of time to get themselves going, which is understandable for a young roster like theirs. However, the most recent loss at Utah could prove to be costly down the road. The Lakers have overtaken them in the 4th seed, while the Nuggets and Grizzlies have slowly pulled away in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Houston is only 3-7 SU in their last 10 games overall.
Similarly to the Philadelphia 76ers out East, the San Antonio Spurs season is pretty much over. It’s hard to imagine them catching the final play-in tournament spot with only 27 games remaining, especially since they’ll be without their best player Victor Wembanyama. Over this last month or so of the season we are expecting the Spurs to give their younger players minutes, developing them could be helpful in the years to come.
Houston Rockets Stats & Form
Prior to Wednesday’s game the Rockets will be in action at home against the Milwaukee Bucks, so this game will be a 2nd night of a back-to-back for them. They’re coming off a disappointing 124-115 loss to the Utah Jazz, in a game in which they allowed arguably the worst offensive team in the league to shoot 50% from the field. Not only that, Utah dominated the rebounding battle 58-41, collecting 16 of them on the offensive end.
San Antonio Spurs Stats & Form
Just 96 points scored resulted in a 18 point loss at New Orleans in the most recent Spurs game. Their latest addition De’Aaron Fox finished the game with just 13 points on 3-for-16 shooting. Shutting him down has proven to be a recipe for success for opposing teams, the Spurs aren’t exactly equipped with elite players apart from Fox and Wembanyama. Don’t be surprised if Fox’s minutes are cut short moving forward as they want to keep him healthy for next season.
Houston Rockets vs San Antonio Spurs: Head-to-Head
After winning the regular season series last year 3-1, the Rockets are on their way to do the same this season as well following back-to-back wins after they lost the series opener. The most recent meeting wasn’t close as Houston dominated 127-100. It was their 7th win in 10 meetings, they’ve also covered in 6 of those 10 games outscoring the Spurs by almost 8 points per game.

Betting tip and prediction: Houston Rockets vs San Antonio Spurs (26.02.2025)
Losing Victor Wembanyama to a season ending blood clot issue has been a devastating blow to the play-in tournament aspirations of the San Antonio Spurs. The hope of making it in as the 10th seed is all but gone after their 2nd straight defeat which has them now 4 games back from the Sacramento Kings in the standings. Now having Wemby will be a problem against the Rockets on Wednesday as well, the Spurs will have a hard time guarding Alperen Sengun who just had his 2nd game in a row with 20+ points and 10+ rebounds. Even with Wemby the Spurs struggled to keep teams off the glass giving up 53.6 rebounds per game, which is the 6th highest amount in the NBA. In the 3 games without him that number has gone up to 62 per game, for reference the Washington Wizards allow 56.1 per game and they are the worst team in the league in this department. All hope lies in the hands of De’Aaron Fox here from the Spurs’ perspective, but you have to wonder if relying on just one single player can get the job done against a very solid home team like the Rockets. Houston has been a force at the Toyota Center winning 18 of 27 games, they head into this game with most of their top players healthy and playing. With the pressure on them to get back on track, we believe the Rockets are a solid bet to deliver another win to their fans at Toyota Center here. Back the home team.
