Sunday Football Betting Tips
There are a number of matches taking place this weekend across the world and some of the most important of those are in Europe as the second legs of the World Cup Qualifying Playoffs take place. Switzerland host Northern Ireland in a delicately poised contest, whilst Croatia head over to Greece to complete what should be a formality in terms of their qualification. They are just two of the games which I will be featuring in this article.
Switzerland vs Northern Ireland
Switzerland picked up a controversial win in the first leg between these two teams after a harsh handball call resulted in a penalty which Ricardo Rodriguez converted. Switzerland dominated possession in the game, but Northern Ireland limited them to very few chances in open play. You feel that it will be tough for Northern Ireland to qualify now with the away goals rule meaning that they will have to win by two clear goals on Sunday. In terms of bets for the game, I think it’ll be another tight encounter with the first goal being crucial. I can see Switzerland picking up another 1-0 victory and at 7/2, that looks like a solid bet to me.
Switzerland to win 1-0 – 7/2 (Ladbrokes)
Greece vs Croatia
Croatia turned in a dominating performance in the first leg of this playoff, picking up a 4-1 win in Zagreb. You feel that complacency will be the only danger to Croatia in this game, considering the scoreline and the difference in class in the squads. The Greek press were very harsh on their side after the first leg, calling the result an ‘unprecedented disgrace” and you would expect to see them turn in an improved performance on Sunday. If Croatia score first then it’s game over, but an early goal for Greece could certainly see a few nerves creep into this talented Croatian squad. Mario Madzukic missed the first leg through injury, but the Juventus striker has been declared fit for Sunday’s game and his class will make things even tougher for the Greeks, you feel. BTTS at 19/20 looks like a sure fire thing for this game and that is what I will be tipping here.
BTTS – YES – 19/20 (Ladbrokes)
Ghana vs Egypt
This dead rubber in the African section of World Cup qualifying sees two of the strongest teams on the continent go head to head. Egypt are resting a number of key players for the clash and therefore I think there could be money to be made in betting on the Ghanaians to pick up a victory. Ghana have injury problems of their own with Asamoah Gyan and Christian Atsu missing the match, but they will be selecting a stronger starting line up than Egypt here. The 23/20 available on Ghana to win looks like easy money to me and is something that you should be all over.
Ghana to win – 23/20 (Ladbrokes)
