Tuesday’s loss at Dallas was a new low point in the season for the Los Angeles Lakers. The loss itself wasn’t an issue, but the manner in which they folded against a team missing its two best players was embarrassing to say the least. LA led by as many as 6 points against the shorthanded Mavs and ultimately just went ice-cold in the 2nd half to lose by 21 in the end. The effort just wasn’t there as they gave up 11 offensive rebounds and lost the rebounding battle 44-33. Will things improve against Charlotte? Honestly, we are not sure we can trust the Lakers anymore here. The Hornets are one of the worst teams in the NBA and are currently tanking to get a high pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, but even they are coming off a big home win over Kevin Durant and his Phoenix Suns. LaMelo Ball showed just why he is the leading vote getter among guards in the Eastern Conference for the All-Star game – he finished with 32 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. If there is one thing he does well, it’s stuffing the stat sheet. The Lakers could have a hard time dealing with his length and athleticism as they severely lack in that department.
