Charlotte Hornets vs Oklahoma City Thunder: Current situation
With the NBA season approaching January and the Hornets having just 7 wins in their first 30 games, it’s fair to say that this team is headed towards the lottery. That’s nothing surprising though, the team was expected to tank even before the season had started. Their best player and only star on the roster LaMelo Ball had been in and out of the line-up with various knocks, he might get some time off as the team tries to lose as many games as possible in the coming weeks.
These two teams couldn’t be heading in more different directions. The Thunder are chasing an NBA championship, right now they’ve built a 3.5 game edge over the Houston Rockets for the number one seed in the West. All is going well, apart from that NBA Cup Final loss it’s really hard to find a blemish on their season so far. There is also good news on the injury front as Chet Holmgren continues to recover from his hip injury.
Charlotte Hornets Stats & Form
Charlotte has dropped 6 games in a row and 8 straight at home. From a bettors perspective they are also only 1-5 ATS in those 6 games, so it would be wise to avoid betting on them for the time being. They did shoot the ball well in their most recent loss against Washington, knocking down 17 threes. However, that was more due to the fact that the Wizards are the absolute worst team in the NBA right now.
Oklahoma City Thunder Stats & Form
OKC came back from as many as 15 points in Thursday’s win over the Indiana Pacers, as they covered the spread as 5-point favorites. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was once again the leader with 45 points and 8 assists. He is doing his best to improve his MVP case and right now he is just unstoppable. It was his 2nd straight game of 40+ points, Charlotte could be in trouble on Saturday night.
Charlotte Hornets vs Oklahoma City Thunder: Head-to-Head
Even though Oklahoma City has won both meetings last season, sweeping the regular season series, the Hornets have surprisingly held their ground in head-to-head meetings over the years. Prior to those two wins last year, Charlotte had won 5 in a row, they’ve also covered the spread in 7 of the last 10 head-to-head. The two teams are averaging almost 230 points per game in those 10 meetings.

Betting tip and prediction: Charlotte Hornets vs Oklahoma City Thunder (28.12.2024)
The Thunder showed great resilience as they came back from as many as 15-points in Thursday’s 120-114 win at Indiana. It was their 9th win in a row, if we disregard the NBA Cup Final game. And the best part is, they are winning all these games without relying too much on the three-point shot. In 3 of their last 5 games they’ve knocked down 10 or less threes, that just goes to show just how versatile this team is on offense. The Thunder shouldn’t encounter too much resistance in Saturday’s game at Charlotte, they’ve won 5 straight road games. The Hornets are a total mess this year, they are struggling to keep up with teams averaging just 106.5 points per game which is the 3rd lowest amount this season. LaMelo Ball accounts for 30 of those points, he will be the only threat to the Thunder in this game. Charlotte connected on just 8 threes twice over their last 6 games, in order to compete with OKC you almost have to have a perfect game on offense. We just cannot see that happening here, let’s roll with the Thunder as they continue their impressive win streak.
