Toronto Raptors vs New York Knicks: Current situation
With a 7-17 SU record the Raptors find themselves on the edge of the play-in battle in the Eastern Conference. The 10th seeded Bulls are 3 games ahead of them, however the Raptors have to ask themselves are they better off trying to catch them or just tank the rest of the season. With the 2025 NBA Draft class being one of the more talented in the past few years, the incentive to tank has never been bigger for Toronto.
Losing to Detroit at home was a real momentum killer for the Knicks who were on the verge of catching Orlando in the 3rd seed. There is still hope they can do so as they trail the Magic by just 2 wins, but losing to teams with sub-par records could haunt the Knicks further down the line. New York fans are just hoping that Karl-Anthony Towns’ injury isn’t severe and that he can come back as soon as possible. The partnership between him and Jalen Brunson has resulted in one of the most prolific one-two punches in the NBA this season.
Toronto Raptors Stats & Form
Prior to this game the Raptors had the un-easy task of hosting one of the hottest teams in the NBA the Dallas Mavericks and to nobody’s surprise they lost 125-118. An interesting stat did pop up from that game – Toronto finished with 37 assists on the night, but losing the rebounding battle by 13 is what ultimately decided that game. Gradey Dick also had 27 points in that game, but he was a very inefficient 8-for-21 from the field. Those are just some of the things that need to be cleaned up ahead of Monday’s game against New York.
New York Knicks Stats & Form
As good as Jalen Brunson is, he alone just isn’t enough to carry this Knicks offense these days. Brunson finished with 31 points and 10 assists in Saturday’s loss to Detroit, but the concerning part is he played 44 minutes. Logging that much workload in early December is never a good idea, especially for a player with his injury history. It would not be surprising if the Knicks decided to give Brunson a night off here, especially if Towns isn’t able to go.
Toronto Raptors vs New York Knicks: Head-to-Head
New York dominated this match-up thoroughly last season winning all 4 meetings and sweeping the regular season series. In 3 of those wins the margin of victory was more than 10 points, only once Toronto managed to keep it somewhat close in a 6-point loss. Despite the dominance from last season, New York still has a long way to go if they want to catch Toronto in the all-time regular season win total, they trail 61-49 going into Monday’s game.

Betting tip and prediction: Toronto Raptors vs New York Knicks (09.12.2024)
Just when we all though the Knicks had finally figured things out, they lose at home to the Detroit Pistons by 9 points. That ended a 4-game win streak which saw them beat 3 opponents in a row by double-digit margins. Karl-Anthony Towns sat that game out with a knee injury, highlighting once again how much he means to this team. Whether or not he plays here remains to be seen, the Knicks will need others to step up in order to make up for his scoring. Toronto does like to score a lot of points, they rank 11th in pace this season averaging 100.2 possessions per game. Their defense is what has them ranking in the bottom half of the Eastern Conference, opponents are scoring 115.5 points per 100 possessions against them. However, if there is one thing the Raptors do well on that end it’s their ability to close out teams on the perimeter. Only 7 teams in the NBA have held opponents to a lower percentage from three-point land this season, that’s definitely something the Raptors will look to rely on against the Knicks. If Towns isn’t available here, we believe New York will have a tough time covering the spread. Toronto has been a reliable 9-3 ATS in 12 home games this season, we recommend backing them to once again cover the spread here.
