Los Angeles Lakers vs Denver Nuggets: Current situation
Even after dropping their first home game of the season on Thursday, Lakers fans don’t have much to complain about after the first 15 games of the season. Apart from minor knocks to Rui Hachimura, Jarred Vanderbilt and Jaxson Hayes, the team has avoided major injuries so far and they are hoping it stays that way. Optimism is back among the Lakers faithful after a 10-5 start, we could be witnessing the final championship run of the storied career of LeBron James.
The Denver Nuggets will only go as far as Nikola Jokic takes them and their last 3 games are the perfect evidence of that statement. At 8-5 they are currently 5th in the standings, which would pit them against the Lakers in the first round of the playoffs if the season were to end today. That would be a favorable match-up for the Nuggets who have eliminated the Lakers in the last 2 postseasons. Once Jokic is back with the team, you would think that their record would improve dramatically. This is a top 3 team in the Western Conference easily when the 3-time MVP plays.
Los Angeles Lakers Stats & Form
The Lakers went into Thursday’s game against the Magic as 5.5 point favorites, but ultimately fell at home 119-118. It was a disappointing loss as they led by as many as 10 points in that game, wasting 39 points from Anthony Davis and 31 points from LeBron James. Perimeter defense and rebounding was the main reason why the Lakers lost that game. Orlando made 15 threes and grabbed 12 more rebounds.
Denver Nuggets Stats & Form
Denver has been up and down form wise, with their big man Nikola Jokic out of the line-up for the past 3 games. During this stretch they’ve gone just 1-2, failing to crack the 100 point mark in the 2 losses. When Jokic doesn’t play they are a historically bad offensive team, with him on the floor they elevate to the very top with an average of over 120 points scored per 100 possessions. Whether or not he suits up here remains to be seen, Jokic is currently away from the team due to personal reasons.
Los Angeles Lakers vs Denver Nuggets: Head-to-Head
The Lakers and Nuggets have met in the last 2 postseason, with Denver coming out top in both of those series fairly easily. This will be the first of 4 meetings this regular season, right now Denver is on a 4-game win streak in regular season games. If we include the two playoffs then 12 of the last 13 meetings overall have gone the Nuggets way.
Los Angeles Lakers – Denver Nuggets Odds
Odds for a Lakers home victory are currently at just 4/7, while for a Nuggets win on the road you can get 9/5 odds. Keep in mind though that these are heavily influenced tue to the fact that Nikola Jokic might not play here.
The point total has been set at 223.5 points, with odds of 10/11 available for either the over or the under.

Betting tip and prediction: Los Angeles Lakers vs Denver Nuggets (23.11.2024)
This will be a 2nd night of a back-to-back for the Nuggets who play the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night. They will also have to travel in between games, which is something that the Lakers won’t have to do after their Thursday home game against Orlando. The outcome of this game will largely depend on whether or not Nikola Jokic plays here, but even if he does I would still give a slight edge to the Lakers. Taking a week off in the middle of the season can disrupt your rhythm, no matter how talented of a basketball player you are. The Lakers have been a juggernaut at home this season, winning 7 of 8 games and posting the 3rd best offensive numbers. At this point in time the Nuggets simply don’t have enough to keep up with a high octane offense, we just saw them come up with 94 and 90 points in 2 of their last 3 games against Memphis and New Orleans. We recommend backing the Lakers here, as they try to bounce back from their first home loss of the season.
