Minnesota Timberwolves vs Phoenix Suns: Current situation
At 7-6 through the first 15 games of the season, Minnesota Timberwolves fans will not be happy with the way their team has played. They were much better off last season at this time, the moves they made during the offseason haven’t really resulted in all that much of an improvement, if any. Their interior defense has taken a major step back which is surprising, considering they traded away Karl-Anthony Towns who has been labeled as soft on that end of the floor. Anthony Edwards is getting to his numbers, but he alone cannot carry this team.
Phoenix was off to one of their best starts in years in the first 2 weeks of the season, but then Kevin Durant suffered an injury and since then they’ve exchanged wins and losses over their last 4 games. With at least 10 more days until he returns from his calf injury, the Suns are just trying to survive in the meantime, so any win they can get without their best player is a major plus. Right now, Phoenix ranks 4th in the Western Conference which would secure them home court advantage in the playoffs.
Minnesota Timberwolves Stats & Form
Minnesota celebrated a much needed 130-126 win in overtime against Sacramento on Friday, overcoming a 60-point effort by De’Aaron Fox. The win ended a 3-game losing streak, losing back-to-back games against the Portland Trail Blazers could prove to be costly later in the season. Minnesota is one of the healthiest teams in the NBA this year, but they are struggling to click with newly acquired Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo inserted into the line-up.
Phoenix Suns Stats & Form
Phoenix just got annihilated by the Oklahoma City thunder 99-83 on Friday night. The 83 points scored was a season low, leading scorer Josh Okogie had just 15 points in the loss. Devin Booker is having to do it all by himself with Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal both out, but he went just 2-for-10 from the field in the loss. With their next 4 games being against playoff bound opponents, the Suns could find themselves in a hole before KD comes back.

However, then the two teams were paired in the 1st Round of the West playoffs and Minnesota swept the Suns, winning by an average margin of 15 points per game.

Betting tip and prediction: Minnesota Timberwolves vs Phoenix Suns (17.11.2024)
It’s never a good look for the NBA when injuries determine outcomes of games, but this could very well be one of those games. Grayson Allen, Bradley Beal, Collin Gillespie and Kevin Durant are all out injured for Phoenix, they just scored a measly 83 points on the road against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Minnesota is still elite on defense, despite their problems on the interior. They do a fantastic job of defending the perimeter, allowing just 11.3 threes per game which is the lowest mark in the NBA. The T’Wolves have played really well at home this season, only 2 teams have been able to come out of Minneapolis with a victory so far. Although the Suns did win the 2 regular season meetings last season at TD Garden, we do not believe they will stand a chance in Sunday’s meeting. Let’s back the Minnesota Timberwolves to cover the spread here.
