Betting Tip: Everton v Leicester

Two sides going through a major transition meet at The King Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon as Leicester City host Everton. Claude Puel will be taking charge of Leicester City for the first time after replacing Craig Shakespeare as manager last week, whilst David Unsworth will be managing in the Premier League for the first time ever as he continues his role as caretaker manager following Ronald Koeman’s sacking last Monday. Both teams will fancy their chances of picking up a victory and both managers will be desperate to impress both the fans and their respective boardrooms.

Leicester City come into this game off the back of two successive victories against Swansea City in the Premier League and Leeds in the EFL Cup. The Foxes are unbeaten in four games and Craig Shakespeare could consider himself slightly unlucky to have lost his job considering he faced Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool in four of the first six games of the season. New manager Claude Puel will be without Robert Huth and Matty James, but other than that the new boss has a fully fit squad to choose from.

Everton

David Unsworth narrowly lost his first game in caretaker charge of Everton, losing 2-1 to Chelsea in a closely fought EFL Cup tie. The former Everton defender is desperate to take the job on a permanent basis and a win here against Leicester City would go a long way to convincing the owners that he is the right man for the role. Everton have no fresh injury concerns heading into the game, with Ross Barkley, Seamus Coleman and Yannick Bolasie remaining as long term absentees.

Talking Points

1. Everton won both league games between these two sides last season by an aggregate score of 6-2.
2. Leicester City ended a six game winless run by beating Swansea City last time out in the Premier League.
3. Jamie Vardy has been involved in four goals in his last four games against Everton (two goals, two assists).

Prediction

This is a game which could go either way; both teams have new managers in charge and they will be desperately trying to have an influence on their squads before this game. David Unsworth is apparently the man that the players want to replace Ronald Koeman, so hopefully they will start showing that on the pitch with improved performances. I fancy Everton to pick up a win this weekend, but I think it’ll be a tight game.

Betting Tips (Ladbrokes)

Leicester start this game as favourites at odds of 23/20, whilst an away win for Everton is available at 11/4 and the draw is 5/2. Those odds on the away win for Everton look extremely tempting to me, considering the fact that I think we’ll see an improved performance under Unsworth and they beat Leicester in both games last season.
