Both Everton and Arsenal have disappointed so far this season, with Everton especially being very disappointing after the money they have spent this summer. Arsenal are currently in 6th place, outside of the top four, but Everton are in a far worse position, down in 16th position.Both teams need to step up their game, especially Everton and the next few months are all about them improving and climbing the table. While Arsenal have the ability to challenge for the top four, Everton certainly have the ability to challenge in the top half, if not higher and that is why this season has been so disappointing for them so far.
It remains to be seen what happens for both these clubs going forward, but they could both really do with the points from this game.

Everton have just two wins from their opening eight games, a hugely disappointing total for a team that showed a lot of promise on paper this summer. They did lose Romelu Lukaku over the summer, but they have re-invested the money and spent across a number of different areas which should have made them a better team. They have many match winners in the team, and players who have the ability to change games, but for whatever reason they haven’t come together yet.
Everton picked up a good point away at Brighton last weekend, but before that they lost at home 1-0 to Burnley in another very disappointing performance. The future is simple for Everton, things have to improve and quickly, they need to climb the table and start realising their potential before things are too late.
Arsenal Form
It hasn’t been brilliant from Arsenal this season so far, but they have done enough to remain in close proximity of the top four. They have won four, lost three and drawn one of their eight games, showing a very indifferent level of form. They need to improve across all areas of the pitch, they have only scored 12 goals so far, but have also conceded ten. Not only do they need to improve defensively, which has been a big problem for them for a couple of years now, but they also need to improve going forward. If they can manage to do one then they have a chance of reaching the top four, if they do both then they look sure to finish in the top four. Arsenal were disappointing last weekend, losing 2-1 thanks to a late goal away at Watford. Again we saw their inability to defend well and their lack of goals, both of which keep showing up in the games they play.
Team News
Everton have an abundance of attacking talent to choose from, but as of yet they have not been able to find the winning formula. A lot of their play goes through Wayne Rooney, but others need to step up and deliver for them. Players like Gylfi Sigurdsson, Kevin Mirallas and Idrissa Gueye all need to show more going forward for Everton to get out of the position they are in. Arsenal will always have trouble defending, but goal scoring shouldn’t be the problem that it has been for them so far this season. With strikers Alexandre Lacazette, Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud at the club they should be able to find someone to put the ball in the back of the net for them.

This is a game between two clubs who could do better, with Everton especially really needing to improve on what they have shown so far. Both clubs have the right players to make them better, and need to find consistency and momentum to make that happen over the next few weeks. I am going to back the draw in this game, which is priced up at 13/5 with Ladbrokes and represents good value in this game where both clubs are hard to trust. I don’t believe Everton have the ability to win this game, but I don’t think Arsenal do either, meaning a draw is the most likely outcome in what will probably be a game with few scoring opportunities. Both teams are capable of doing better than they are at the moment, but right now it is hard to trust either of them to perform. With that in mind, the best way to bet in this game is to back the draw, this is also a result that both teams would be relatively happy with.
