Betting Tip: Stevenage v Port Vale

Stevenage have gotten themselves a bit of momentum going with back to back wins having been posted by them over the last week. Having seen off Morecambe and Carlisle they will be expected to do a similar job over the struggling Vale on the weekend. Port Vale have collected only the two points from the last eighteen which has been available to them. This is a tough road trip for them then as they head to the Lamex Stadium. Not too surprisingly, Boro are 23/20 favourites for this with the visiting Vale at 11/4.

Stevenage Form

Boro have been pretty consistent over the course of the season with a good W5 D3 L2 record on the board. They have actually taken more wins away from home though. On home soil, they are at W2 D2 L1 for the season with one win their last three. That win did come in their most recent home match though, a 2-1 win over Morecambe. Despite the result, they have scored exactly two goals in each of their last three games played in the division and you can expect goal action as 80% of their home matches have gone over 2.5 goals.

Port Vale Form

Vale have remained winless in nine league outings now. They have drawn two of their last three which is a much better turn around for them in the grand scale of things. After a five-match streak of losing form without scoring, they have netted exactly one goal in each of their last three games played. They had Accrington worried in the week as they took the lead against them but still fell to a defeat. Away from home this season, Vale have collected a W1 D1 L3 record. A 1-1 draw at Yeovil last time on the road, snapping a three-match losing streak away.

Head to Head News

There is pretty limited head to head to look at between these two. Their last league encounter was in the 2013/14 League One season and there were two draws between them. Overall from four previous league games, Stevenage are W2 D2 up. The last time they met though was in the FA Cup last November and Vale took a 1-0 win in that. Overall between them in all competitions, things are even with two wins each and three draws.

Top Betting Tips

Vale are just there for the taking at the  moment and this should be easy pickings for Stevenage. With them scoring well over their last few games then a 2-0 correct score for the home side doesn’t appear to be too unreasonable.
