Another exciting Saturday is upon us, including seven matches in the English Premier League, so here’s the best Chelsea vs. Leeds betting pick along with the latest odds update and team news.
Chelsea – Leeds Betting Tip, Prediction & Odds (4.3.2023)
Chelsea are arguably the biggest disappointment of the 2022-23 Premier League season. The Blues are desperate for a win, but we can say the same about the Peacocks, who are bravely fighting against relegation.
Chelsea vs. Leeds: Initial Situation
The Blues are sitting at the tenth spot in the Premier League with 31 points (W8, D7, L9) and a poor 23:25 goal difference. Only five teams have scored fewer goals than Chelsea thus far. On the other side, the Peacocks are 17th with 22 points (W5, D7, L12) and a 29:39 goal difference, just a point above the drop zone.
Chelsea Stats & Form
The Blues are slumping big time. They are winless in six straight outings in all competitions, scoring just one goal in that stretch. The Blues have dropped three straight contests, including a 1-0 road loss against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League. In their previous two league matches, Chelsea have lost against Southampton 1-0 at home and Tottenham 2-0 on the road.
Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz lead the way for the Blues with six goals apiece. Chelsea desperately need more from Hakim Ziyech, who hasn’t scored in 19 appearances this season, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has just three goals in 18 games.
Leeds Stats & Form
The Peacocks are coming off Saturday’s 1-0 home victory over Southampton. It was their first league win since the World Cup break. Over their previous nine outings in the Premier League, the Peacocks have registered four draws and five losses, so beating the lowly Saints was a huge relief. After sacking Jesse March on February 7, the Peacocks have finally found a new manager, and Javi Gracia had his debut at the helm last weekend.
Leeds cannot count on their leading scorer Rodrigo (12 goals in 22 appearances in all competitions), who’s sidelined with an ankle injury. Patrick Bamford has three goals and four assists on his season tally and will continue to lead Leeds’ frontline in Rodrigo’s absence. Winger Jack Harrison is the team’s top assist-maker with seven dishes across 24 apps.
Chelsea – Leeds: Head-to-Head
Leeds routed Chelsea 3-0 at home in their first meeting of the season. It was way back in August, and Rodrigo and Harrison accounted for a goal and an assist apiece. Still, Chelsea have won five straight home encounters with Leeds.
Chelsea – Leeds Odds
Despite Chelsea’s awful run of form, the Blues are 1.64 favorites at Unibet Sportsbook. The bookmakers won’t be surprised by a few goals, setting the Over 2.5 Goals around 1.85 odds, while Both Teams to Score YES pays 1.90 at bet365 Sportsbook.
On paper, Chelsea have a ton of quality options, looking like a better team than Leeds. However, I don’t trust the Blues as long as Graham Potter is their manager. I’ve already discussed Potter’s situation in my previous previews, and it certainly looks like Potter’s players don’t want to play for him. The Peacocks will be highly motivated to get something from this game. Rodrigo’s absence is a huge blow, and I’m expecting Leeds to take a cautious approach. If Chelsea’s offense continues to struggle, we’ll see another low-scoring affair at Stamford Bridge. The Blues’ last seven home games have seen fewer than three goals on the scoreboard, and I would ride this betting trend.
