Things continue to look pretty dire for Cheltenham who lost again in midweek making it just the one point in the last five games for the Robins in League Two. But they get another shot at picking up points on home soil on the weekend as they welcome Colchester to Whaddon Road. Colchester have had a steadily unspectacular season so far from their efforts as they start the weekend down in 16th place and badly lacking any kind of consistency in their results. The Robins are 6/4 on home soil with Paddy Power to win this with Colchester a little longer at 9/5.
Cheltenham Form
Where oh where is the next win for Cheltenham going to come from? To start with they have to start scoring goals because they have failed to score in each of their last three league games now and in four of their last five played. At home this season they have gone W1 L2, losing their last two at Whaddon Road. Their defence has improved, it must be said as they have conceded just the two goals in their last three games. Trouble is, they just can’t score themselves.
Colchester Form
Colchester had lost every other game played this season until they broke that sequence with a point at home against Chesterfield in midweek, which followed a home win over Crawley on the weekend. So that’s an improvement. While they remain a good home side, they have been a bit woeful out on the road with them having lost each of their three road games this season. They have scored just the one goal in their three road trips too, conceding seven. They have to be a little vulnerable, even out at Cheltenham.
Head to Head News
Last season Colchester won both league games against Cheltenham to nil and they are on a three match winning streak against the Gloucestershire side. There’s not a great deal of history between the two sides and Colchester are 6-2 ahead in the overall head to head across all competitions, with the two drawn matches.
Top Betting Tips
Because Colchester have gone so poorly out on the road, this has to be a chance for Cheltenham to get something out of this. They are struggling badly in front of goal though but then Colchester have done nothing in front of goal on the road this season. A low scoring game should ensue, but just back a draw as it’s too hard to see a winner being produced.
