Brentford and Wolves have had opposite starts to the season so far and Brentford are beginning to be a little desperate for points. Wolves have started well, but slipped up in their last game and will be looking to bounce back in this game.
Brentford should be doing better than they are but things just haven’t clicked for them yet. They are at the bottom of the table and when you are struggling, the last thing you need is a top team like Wolves coming to your ground. This is going to be tough for Brentford, Wolves are a quality team but they need to pick up a win soon from somewhere.
Brentford Form
Brentford have been very disappointing so far this season, picking up just one point from their opening four games. This is not good enough and has put them at risk of falling into the relegation battle, something they were expected to be well clear of.
Their only point of the season came in a home 2-2 draw against Bristol City and in that game they did look a little better. However, surrounded by that there has been some very disappointing performances and things needs addressing quickly before Brentford find themselves in a lot of trouble.
I do think that Brentford have the ability to get out of their current position, although this game may not be the one for them because Wolves are a quality team.
Wolves Form
After a very good start, Wolves find themselves 3rd in the league with nine points from four games. They won their opening three games before tasting defeat for the first time against Cardiff, a game they lost 2-1 at home.
Away from that loss, they have been very good, recording three good wins and keeping things tight at the back. They started with a 1-0 victory against Middlesbrough and followed it up with a 2-0 victory away at Derby and a 3-2 victory away at Hull. Those were before the defeat to Cardiff, and overall Wolves have been very impressive early in the campaign.
I fancied Wolves to compete for promotion this season and so far they have done nothing to harm their chances. They have been impressive at both ends of the pitch, defending well and managing to find the back of the net regularly.
Team News
Neal Maupay scored in Brentford’s only game where they picked up any points and on that day he came off the bench. With goals a priority and finding a win something they need to do soon I think we will see more of him in the coming games. Ollie Watkins scored the other goal, he too is important to this team and is a player that they need playing with confidence.
Ruben Neves was the big money signing at Wolves this summer and so far he has been brilliant. He sits in midfield, protecting the back four and with two clean sheets out of four games, his influence is already on show and I expect him to get even better as he gets more Championship games under his belt.
Top Betting Tips
Brentford are becoming desperate for a win and they really need to pick one up soon. I am sure they are better than their current league position shows, and they should be fighting for the top half of the table, but for whatever reason things haven’t gone their way. They have the ability in the squad to make it change, but that needs to happen soon.
Wolves have started very well and are currently 3rd in the table. They do need to bounce back from their first defeat though this week, after a loss at home to Cardiff last weekend. That wasn’t Wolves at their best and I think they will be raring to go here, to prove that they are better than what they showed us against Cardiff.
I am going to back Wolves to win this game and get back to winning ways away at Brentford. Wolves can be backed at a generous 9/5 with Skybet and Ladbrokes to win this game, a very fair price I think and one I am happy to take advantage of.
Brentford will eventually improve and move away from the bottom of the table, I am convinced by that. However, even if they improve in this game, I still think that Wolves have the quality to go there and pick up what will be another valuable three points.
