The trash talk between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor has been nothing short of epic, with some of it embarrassingly degrading. So much so that it will be really interesting to see what is said after the fight, whether or not there will be any degree of respect between the two of them. You can just imagine that the loser, which is more likely than not going to be McGregor, spitting out some kind of vitriol and probably pushing hard for a rematch.
Neither fighter is actually going to come out of this duel as a loser at all because they are both in line to collect around $1 million from the scrap out in Las Vegas. Pride may get wounded a little bit, but it’s a big payday for both. Just because this is a crossover fight, with McGregor coming over the UFC to duel with one of the greatest boxing legends out there, it will be massively interesting to see if either gets put on the canvas in the fight.
Not just that, but whether or not they would actually be able to get back and win the thing. If that were to happen it would either take some kind of miracle from McGregor to box his way back to victory if he goes down, or Mayweather gets caught with a lucky shot or something and responds to that. The degree of class and quality between the two of them in the ring should be quite telling, especially the longer the fight goes on.
Unusually you have the element of such an unknown in McGregor in this boxing scenario. His chin hasn’t been tested, nor has his ability to take a physical body pounding, his endurance over what could be a long fight and just how he would respond if he gets it down.
