Birmingham – Statistics & current form

Birmingham City with coach John Eustace have had a mixed season so far. There have been one or two positive moments, but not much has come of it. That’s why the team is only in the midfield of the league, although there are some exciting players in the squad. The only thing that is still lacking is the connection between the individual players and the creation of a unit on the pitch.

The names read well. Ruddy is a safe backstop in goal, Bielik a technically fine player in midfield, Chong a variable attacking player, Deeney an experienced striker and Jobe Bellingham, brother of BVB star Jude Bellingham, a great young hope. None of this helped as they suffered a 2-1 defeat away at Blackburn Rovers during the week.

One factor this season when looking at Birmingham is their reliance on striker Scott Hogan in attack. He has seven goals to his name, no other player has more than two. Add to that a lack of consistency and only two wins in their last seven competitive games, and it’s obviously an added burden.

Birmingham: Spectacle is rare

There has not been a period this season when Birmingham have really played well in the long run. They have not won more than two in a row and have not been unbeaten more than four times in a row. Of course, the gap to the top is not huge, the hosts benefit in that respect from the tight league, but in the long run Birmingham cannot afford such a record.

That this team is now favourites against QPR, who have ten points more on their account, even if only minimally, may seem surprising. Especially as the hosts, with an average of 1.29 points per game, are really not a home power. But Birmingham are hard to break down, conceding 15 goals in 16 league games. Since the team also scored only 16 times itself, the goal average per game is less than two.

QPR – Statistics & Current Form

QPR were not considered among the very big favourites for promotion before the season, to say the least, but things have turned out better at Loftus Road in recent weeks than they first appeared. Michael Beale has his squad under control, was recently recruited by Wolves but turned them down. No wonder, because his team is something like the team of the hour.

The visitors have a broad squad that is not even completely outstanding up front. But the possibility to rotate more often helps this team enormously. This ensures a high standard of quality and helped to win four of the last five games. The fact that players like Ilias Chair (9) or Chris Willock (7) also collect goal shares en masse is an added bonus.

A win against Birmingham would of course be perfect to keep up the fight for the top places. QPR are currently in second place with 30 points, ten more than Birmingham.

QPR: Offensive with good performances

The comparison of the statistics of both teams shows that QPR even conceded more goals than the hosts from Birmingham. One difference, however, is the offensive. The club from London has played 16 games and the visitors have scored 25 times. Away from home, they have scored eleven goals so far, which does not show a big discrepancy to the home games. QPR also scored twice or more in four of the last six league games.

This also means that the visitors will travel to Birmingham with a certain amount of self-confidence. They have lost four of their last 16 games, but only one of their last eight. In terms of form, QPR have received a positive boost recently. However, because the hosts are one of the most compact teams in the entire league and also have home advantage on their side, our value prediction in the run-up to the Birmingham vs QPR game is that less than 2.5 goals will be scored.

Birmingham – QPR Direct Comparison / H2H Record

The two sides have played 65 games against each other so far and both teams are currently on 24 wins. 17 games ended in a draw. This means that the direct comparison is even, except for the goals scored, as QPR have four more. Nevertheless, the odds between Birmingham and QPR show the home side as slight favourites, which can probably be attributed to the home advantage.

Birmingham – QPR Betting Tip & Prediction

Birmingham is not a team that should be underestimated. However, QPR have not given the impression that they are at risk in recent weeks, as the statistics speak for themselves. In the end, there is a lot to be said for the visitors being able to get a solid to good result. Therefore, our prediction before the match Birmingham vs QPR is that the visitors will not lose. Our pick under 2.5 goals @ bet365 for 4/5.
