Liverpool manager Klopp wanted to bring in Ajax captain Tadic
Ajax managed to bring Dusan Tadic to Amsterdam several years ago. The Serbian came over from Southampton at the time, but he also had the option of going to Liverpool. Indeed, manager Jürgen Klopp would have liked to bring him in from his current club.
The German coach revealed this during the press conference ahead of the match against Ajax. “I was very angry with myself when he went to Ajax, because I was also interested in him. Because I love a player like Tadic,” Klopp acknowledged. It was not entirely clear from his words whether Liverpool had actually made a concrete attempt or whether he was too late because Ajax had already got him. “Tadic is still an important player for Ajax,” he said.
The striker is one of the Amsterdammers’ carrying forces, despite having to build a new squad. “They sold a lot of players, again. That is difficult, but I think it is a really nice team to watch. Would a Kenneth Taylor have played as much if all the players had stayed?”, Klopp also cited an advantage.
