Match Betting
Coco Vandeweghe vs Agnieszka Radwanska
Wimbledon semi-finalist Vandeweghe starts as favourite for this one (8/11 with Boyle Sports) and she’ll be hoping to get over her Wimbledon quarter final disappointment. 10th seed Radwanska is the outsider for this one 13/10 (Bet Victor) and could well be worth a punt here.
Head to Head
Radwanska leads the H2H 4:1 with all of her victories over the American coming on hard courts. Vandeweghe won the last meeting between the pair – on the grass in Edgbaston in 2016.
Top Bet
Radwanska may have struggled in 2017 but may be happier with the return to hard court tennis than Vandeweghe. The Pole looks a good price at 13/10, it could be tight though so backing the match to go to 3 sets is a tempting 6/5 with Ladbrokes.
Donna Vekic vs Eugenie Bouchard
Two of the biggest hopes for female tennis in recent years meet in what promises to be a very interesting match-up. Vekic has had to qualify here and actually starts as favourite (4/5 Paddy Power) whist Bouchard has been given wildcard entry in her home event and is priced at 11/10 with Betway. Despite their recent struggles both of these players have huge followings and the game is scheduled to take place on the centre court at Toronto.
Head to Head
Bouchard won the only meeting between the pair, in Shenzhen in 2016 and will be hoping for a similar result here. The pair have very similar game styles, which should make for an extremely entertaining match.
Top Bet
Vekic could start the fresher of the two here having played some hard court tennis already this week so could be a good bet at 4/5 to take the first set. Doubling that up with backing her to go on win the match pays 3.29/1 with Betfair.
Dominika Cibulkova vs Lucie Safarova
Two of the mainstays of the WTA tour face off in another fascinating Toronto encounter. This is the first tournament for both players since Wimbledon and their opening round matches suggest they are both enjoying the return to hard court. Cibulkova dispatched of the dangerous Lesia Tsurenko in round 1, whilst Safarova beat Francoise Abanda in straight sets.
Head to Head
This will be the 10th meeting between the pair with Cibulkova just edging the H2H 5:4. Their most recent encounter in Birmingham (in June) was an epic with Safarova coming though victorious in 3 grueling sets – which suggests this match is going to be tight too.
Top Bet
Most bookmakers can’t separate these two, with odds of 10/11 (William Hill) being offered on both players for the win. With so little between the pair a long match looks likely – Ladbrokes are offering 11/10 on the match containing over 23.5 games whilst a tie-break in the match is an enticing with 9/4 with Coral.
