With the start of the Premier League season now less than a week away, the teams are primed and ready and the final tactical preparations are being made. There first round of games looks pretty good for accumulator betting with most of the big teams facing off against teams they should comfortably expect to beat. In this preview I’ll be taking a look at five of the games and giving you my tips for them.
Arsenal vs Leicester City
Arsenal and Leicester City kick things off on Friday night and Arsene Wenger will be aiming to start the season off on a high after a difficult campaign last time around. It looks as though Alexis Sanchez will stay with the club and he could well go on to form an exciting partnership with summer signing Alexandre Lacazette. Things are looking a bit more positive at the club this summer and Arsenal fans will be hoping for a fast start to the season, something which they did not get last time around. Leicester City diced with relegation last season before Craig Shakespeare helped them avoid the drop and you would expect them to be a solid mid-table team this time around.
Arsenal to win 2/5 (Ladbrokes)
Watford vs Liverpool
The early kick off on Saturday sees Liverpool head to Vicarage Road to take on Watford. Liverpool have looked excellent in pre-season, winning games against Bayern Munich, Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Hertha Berlin amongst others. Jurgen Klopp was stung by the news of a long term injury to Adam Lallana this week but you would expect a side featuring Phillipe Coutinho, Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino to have too much for a Watford side who struggled badly last season.
Liverpool to win 8/15 (Ladbrokes)
Crystal Palace vs Huddersfield Town
Newly promoted Huddersfield Town are the favourites for relegation this season and their squad certainly looks short on quality for a campaign in the top flight of English football. Crystal Palace have changed manager this summer, with Frank de Boer coming in to replace the retiring Sam Allardyce. De Boer has inherited a strong squad, albeit a squad that struggled last season, but if he can get them playing well then they have a good enough team to finish in the top half this time around.
Crystal Palace to win 3/4 (Ladbrokes)
Everton vs Stoke City
Everton have made some exciting signings this summer bringing in the likes of Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Sandro Ramirez, Davy Klaasen and Wayne Rooney. They didn’t quite click in the either leg of their Europa League qualifier but you would still expect them to beat a Stoke City side who struggled badly last season and look to have gone backwards this summer under Mark Hughes.
Everton to win & BTTS – NO 7/4 (Ladbrokes)
Brighton & Hove Albion vs Manchester City
Like Huddersfield, Brighton are expected by many to struggle this season. The step up in quality is huge to the Premier League and it’s tough to see them scoring enough goals to stay up with the likes of Glenn Murray up front. Manchester City on the other hand have a vast array of attacking talent at their disposal, including Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, David Silva, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane and I’d expect them to blow lots of sides away this season, starting with Brighton.
Manchester City (-1) 10/11 (Ladbrokes)
