Roma
2016/17 Serie A runner-up Roma have had a solid pre-season, as they prepare to mount another challenge on the Italian league title.
Two victories in friendly matches in Italy were followed by an opening International Champions Cup match against French side Paris Saint-Germain. That game was a hard-fought encounter and ended 1-1, before PSG won via a penalty shoot-out.
There last match was against Premier League runners-up Tottenham, where Roma looked to have thrown away a two-goal lead but picked up a 3-2 victory thanks to a late injury time winner.
It leaves them with four points, just two off the top of the table in the ICC USA section.
This match against the Italian league champions will be followed by another friendly match, against Sevilla in Spain, before the domestic season starts next month.
Juventus
Juventus won a sixth consecutive Serie A title last season, as they once again showed their dominance in Italian football.
They have had an inconsistent pre-season so far, as they get ready to launch their bid for a seventh domestic league title in a row.
An ICC opening defeat to Barcelona was followed by a 3-2 victory over PSG, thanks to an 89th minute penalty. They sit three points off the top of the table in the USA section of the ICC, and a win may be enough to secure the title if other results go their way.
Head to Head
Since September 1993, these sides have met 51 times. Juventus hold the advantage, with 23 victories. Roma have won just 13, with 15 draws.
Despite Juventus’ domination in Serie A for the past six seasons, the last ten meetings between these sides show they are evenly matched. Since February 2013, Juventus have won five, Roma four, and there has been one draw.
The most recent meeting was in May this year, with Roma winning 3-1.
A notable statistic is that five red cards have been shown in the last six meetings.
Betting Odds and Predictions
Juventus are obviously the favourites here, due to the fact they are Italian league champions and that they have a superior head to head record.
Ladbrokes have them priced at 10/11. Roma to win are the same price as the draw, with both at odds of 5/2.
Instead of committing to a selection in the match result market, we have decided to select a result in the half time market. Seven of the last eight meetings have been level at the break, and it’s priced at 11/8 for it to be a draw at half time here.
Both teams have scored in four of the last six meetings, and it’s priced at 8/15 for Both Teams to Score in this match.
Also, five of the last eight meetings have had fewer than three goals. Therefore, backing Under 2.5 Goals looks to be a solid bet based on statistics. This is priced at 27/20 and provides decent value.
Five of the last ten meetings have ended 1-0, so that may be a good bet for those who like a punt in the correct score market. Juventus to win 1-0 is priced at 10/1, whilst Roma to win by the same scoreline has odds of 14/1.
Top Betting Tip
This is another tough match to call, with Juventus clearly having an advantage but Roma having a fine pre-season. With us finding it hard to pick a winner, our top betting tip for this match is a draw in the half time market.
It has been level at the break in seven of the last eight meetings and is priced at 11/8 with Ladbrokes.
