Spain U21 vs. Belgium U21 Game Preview
Spain were one of the most serious contenders to win this tournament before Round 1 but after a defeat to hosts Italy, they now must get three points or this European Under-21 Championship is over for them. Belgium, on the other hand, disappointed against Poland in a loss and it’s hard to believe they are good enough to bounce back against favoured La Furia Roja.
Spain U21 Team News and Latest Form
Spain came to this tournament as one of the biggest favourites alongside England, France, Germany, and Italy and they opened the clash with the Italians very well. Dani Ceballos scored an absolute screamer from 25 yards to give the Spaniards an early 1-0 lead and they controlled the match in the first 30 minutes but that was pretty much it from Spain. Italy equalized through Federico Chiesa in the 36th minute and the same player gave the Italians a 2-1 lead in the 64th before Lorenzo Pellegrini set the final score, 3-1, eight minutes before the end.
After that loss, Spain have minimal chances to finish the group stage at the top of Group A and now they can hope to win the remaining two matches and qualify for the semis as the best-ranked side in the 2nd place unless the Italians drop points against Poland.
It was only the second defeat in 16 matches for the Spaniards who were on a six-game unbeaten streak before the loss. They also scored in each of those 16 games, so it’s hard to believe La Furia Roja will fail to find the back of the net in this one.
Belgium U21 Team News and Latest Form
Just like Spain, Belgium opened their first game at this tournament very well and scored the opening goal at the 2019 UEFA European Under-21 Championship through Aaron IsekaLeya. However, Poland tied the game only ten minutes later through SzymonZurkowski while the Poles added two more thanks to Krystian Bielik and Sebastian Szymanski. The Red Devils managed to pull one back in the 84th minute through Dion Cools but they couldn’t save a point as the match ended 3-2 for Poland.
After recording nine straight victories, Belgium is now without a victory in the previous four games and they suffered three consecutive defeats. Their defence is rather concerning as they conceded three goals in each of those last four games and it would be a miracle if they keep Spain away from the goal in this one. On the other hand, Belgium managed to score in 13 of their last 14 matches, so it’s clear that the offence is not a problem.
Spain U21 vs. Belgium U21 Head to Head
Spain and Belgium faced each other on four separate occasions and it’s interesting that Spain never beat the Red Devils, which is rather surprising. Belgium scored in each of those four encounters while both teams scored in three of them.
Spain U21 vs. Belgium U21 Betting Tip
Although they never beat Belgium thus far, I am going with Spain to finally record their first victory over the Red Devils as they need three points in order to stay alive in this competition. Belgium is in a pretty much same situation as Spain but they lack quality and I am going with the hosts to win at 8/15 with William Hill.

Considering Belgium’s leaky defence of late, I am backing Spain to score at least two goals here, so you can go with Bet Builder with 888Sport and pick Spain to win and to score over one goal at 10/11.
