Golf Betting Tip: ISPA Handa World Super 6 Golf 2019

Excitement is the aim of the game on the European Tour this week, but picking the winner of the third edition of the ISPA Handa World Super 6 is unlikely to be easy.

That’s because this unique event starts as a stroke-play event played over 54 holes, with the top-24 players after those three rounds of golf progressing to a knockout tournament. The top eight players get a bye, with the other 16 players taking each other on in six-hole head-to-head matchplay battles for the right to progress to the final-16. The matchplay format then continues until there’s an outright winner.

There’s plenty of added excitement too, with any tied matches heading down a seventh hole measuring just 100 yards. If that hole is tied, the seventh hole will be played again but this time the winner will be the player that hits his ball nearest the flag in a nearest-the-pin shootout.

The event is taking place at the Lake Karrinyup Country Club in Perth, Australia, a parkland course that features a variety of undulations and tree-lined fairways.

Market Leaders With Course Form

Despite the quirky nature of this event, it has attracted a moderately strong field. One European star in attendance is Thomas Pieters but, while the young Belgian would be a lot shorter than 20/1 if this was a regulation tour event, his course form isn’t good enough to make him a bet.

The same can be said of fellow market leader Tom Lewis who has been in fantastic form recently since earning back his playing status on the European Tour with last year’s second win at the Portugal Masters. He’s finished third at the Saudi International and ninth in Abu Dhabi this season, so it would be no surprise if he goes were to go close this week.

But, if you want to back some market leaders this week that have already proven they can handle the course, it could be worth siding with both Jason Scrivener and Lucas Herbert. Both have made it to the semi-finals here previously and either or both could go well this week.

Herbert’s recent seventh-place finish in the Dubai Desert Classic is excellent-form and this aggressive format should suit the big-hitting Australian. Scrivener isn’t as big a hitter but, having banked nearly €400,000 from his last six starts, in which he’s posted four top-10 finishes, it’s easy to see him making the final 24 in his current form.

The Matchplay Specialist

The only other bet in this event is Adrian Otageui, one golfer with proven matchplay skills, with his two European Tour titles to date have come in the 2018 Belgian Knockout and the 2017 Saltire Energy Matchplay Tournament. The Spaniard is also the world number 69, which is a much higher position in the world rankings than the majority of this field can boast.
