Arsenal Transfer News: Injuries Signal Move for Reinforcements
Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, has already spoken in this transfer window about the need to add to his squad at the Emirates Stadium in January. The injury to Hector Bellerin has only served to highlight the need for reinforcements and with time running out, the Gunners need to make their move quickly.
Arsenal Injury Problems
Bellerin joins Rob Holding and Danny Welbeck on the treatment table for a prolonged period of time and none of the three are expected to play again this season. Speaking to the press, Emery said, “I think we need and we can sign some players to help, after our injuries like Rob Holding, like [Danny] Welbeck, like Hector Bellerin,” before continuing, “But we can play with the players we have now and have the same message to every supporter. If we have the possibility to sign some important player then we can do. ”
Also on the wing – right or left – if one player can help us in this position. But only if they are giving us big quality. “First it is the quality, and this quality can help us with what we need if he can come here.” Interestingly, despite specifying the wing and also having a right-wing back and central defender injured, it appears Denis Suarez, currently of Barcelona, could be first man brought in during January.
Suarez the Favourite
The 25 year old is a central midfielder but has played for Barcelona in the right full-back position and that means he could fill the vacancy left in the team due to Bellerin’s injury. While it would not be an ideal replacement, it is unlikely Emery is going to find someone else to bring in at such short notice and with Ainsley Maitland-Niles the only other alternative, Arsenal need some cover in that position. Suarez is 4/7 with SkyBet to leave Barcelona in January and 8/15 with Betfair to join the Gunners.
The next club to feature in the betting is Sevilla, where Suarez spent a season on loan and they are 5/1 with Betfair to complete a move for the Spanish international. Suarez did not feature in the Copa del Rey for Barcelona on Wednesday night as speculation grows about his immediate future.
Other Transfer Options for Arsenal
In terms of the winger Emery highlighted the club required, things seem less certain. There is a lack of options in terms of signings in the Premier League which could see the club look as far away as Argentina for their next recruit. Cristian Pavon, who plays for Boca Juniors and featured for Argentina at the 2018 World Cup is 6/1 with BetVictor to join Arsenal in the winter transfer window and another Barcelona player, Malcolm is 12/1.
Looking closer to home, the most likely option appears to by Wilfried Zaha of Crystal Palace but he is also a long shot, at 9/1 with Unibet to leave Selhurst Park for the Emirates in January.
