Who will win the FA Cup this 2018-2019 season?
Whilst much of the football fraternity continue to concentrate on the Premier League and the Champions League, football purists in the UK still consider the FA Cup to be one of the highest accolades in the English game.
The turn of the New Year sees the big names enter the FA Cup at the third round stage and with the Premier League teams now in the mix up, it promises to be yet another fascinating competition.
With Liverpool seemingly running away with the Premier League title, many sides will be seeing the FA Cup as a vehicle to silverware this term.
Usual suspects to go all the way?
It has been 6 years since a team outside the traditional ‘top six’ won the FA Cup and Wigan’s triumph in 2013 seems a distant memory. Manchester City have lost ground in the title race but continue to fight on four fronts and with the FA Cup the only domestic honour to elude Pep Guardiola, they look to be justified favourites at 4/1 with William Hill to win the FA Cup. Holders Chelsea have been inconsistent under Maurizio Sarri this term but seem to play their best football in the cup competitions and will be eager to defend the trophy and Chelsea are 7/1 with 888 Sport to retain the FA Cup.
Teams to break their ducks?
Whilst much has been made of Liverpool’s swashbuckling start to the season, the reds haven’t won a trophy since 2012 – something that Jurgen Klopp will be looking to change quickly. Liverpool are 6/1 with Coral to win the FA Cup this season. Another side looking to break their trophy duck is Tottenham, who last tasted silverware in 2008 by winning the League Cup. They are involved in the title race and are in the last 4 of the Carabao Cup but Tottenham look well placed at 8/1 with Net Bet to win the FA Cup this season.
Big names to make a resurgence?
Manchester United have ensured a tough start to the season but look to be kicking into gear under interim manager Ole Gunna Solskjaer. The reds failed to win a trophy last season but did pick up the FA Cup in 2016 – ending a 13 year wait for the trophy. Manchester United are 9/1 with Bet Victor to win the FA Cup this season. Another side looking to have a positive impact in the competition is Arsenal who won the trophy three times in 4 years between 2014 and 2017. The Gunners are under new management in Unai Emery and despite glimpses of quality, have yet to kick on as yet this season and Arsenal are 12/1 with Ladbrokes to clinch the FA Cup yet again this term.
