Who wants Goalkeeper Joe Hart?
Few goalkeepers in recent times have attracted as much attention as Joe Hart and his future currently remains a mystery. Deemed surplus to requirements by Pep Guardiola in 2016 at Manchester City, the former Shrewsbury number 1 headed out on loan to Torino and West Ham in an attempt to prove himself to the footballing world. Things haven’t worked out that way for Hart who now finds himself out of the England fold in a World Cup year and at the age of 31; he appears to be at a crossroads in his career.
Speculation is rife over his future and here we assess the options available to the charismatic Englishman:-
Sporting Joe?
Such is Hart’s dramatic fall from grace from undisputed number 1 in England, it is perhaps indicative that a foreign club leads the market to secure his signature. Sporting Lisbon are currently the 3/1 favourites with Betfred to sign Hart this summer and a move away from the scrutiny of playing in England looks to be favourable for Hart and his family.
Hammer Again?
Hart’s spell on loan at West Ham was somewhat of a rollercoaster ride with solid performances punctuated by costly errors and the glare of the media and playing in an underperforming side perhaps impacted on his performances. There is however a new manager at the London Olympic Stadium with Manuel Pellegrini at the helm and the two had a strong working relationship – winning 3 trophies together at Manchester City. Hart is 6/1 with Bet Victor to be playing for West Ham next term.
Living the American dream?
With 75 international caps to his name, Joe Hart is one of the biggest names in English football and very few people would have envisaged him making the move to America so early but his lack of form in recent seasons could have perhaps forced his hand this way. The MLS is an emerging football market with the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic currently plying their trade their and the arrival of Joe Hart would be a real coup for the league. Hart is 7/2 with William Hill to sign for a MLS Club this summer.
Joe Brave-Hart?
The footballing landscape in Scotland has taken a seismic shift in interest in recent weeks with Steven Gerrard being installed as the new Rangers manager. The two were England teammates and are rumoured to be close friends off the pitch so it looks a logical move for both – should both parties be keen. Hart is 8/1 with Bet Bright to join Rangers during the off-season. Brendan Rodgers at Celtic too has been searching for a consistent keeper for a few seasons and he would be able to offer Hart Champions League football too so could be worth a punt at 10/1 with Ladbrokes.
