We will stick to the all-weather action for this Wednesday’s bets, with the pick of the cards being the evening offering from Kempton. There are once again three runners who catch my eye here. This does look pretty competitive though so an each way patent may be the way to play.
Kempton 6:15 Low Profile 13/2 @ BetVictor
This looks a decent race on paper with a number of nicely bred sorts in the line-up. John Gosden does well in this sort of race which makes his debutante, West Wing of interest. He is predictably short in the betting though. The fact that West Wing takes up so much of the market does result in another of the runners looking like decent value at the current prices though.
The one to be on is Roger Charlton’s, Low Profile. This one ran just the once last year, over this trip at Windsor. Showing signs of greenness, the son of Galileo looked to be far from in love with the bends at the Berkshire venue, and may find this more conventional track more to his liking. With Charlton operating at a strike rate of 16% with his juvenile turf runners, as opposed to 23% for his three year olds on the all-weather, we can reasonably expect improvement from this recently gelded performer.
Kempton 6:45 Mozzafiato @ 9/2 with Betbright
Warburton looks set to go off a warm order here for the bang in form Charlie Appleby, and having only faded close home over 1m1½f on debut he seems sure to make a bold bid from the front. However the son of Dawn Approach doesn’t look to set an insurmountable standard, and I will take him on with the nicely bred, Mozzafiato from the yard of John Gosden.
This one’s debut was over almost before it had begun, with the Shamardal gelding badly missing the break before losing yet more ground when being snatched up rounding the bend. Whilst he didn’t make any major inroads after that point, nor did he really lose any ground. All in all it looked a pretty solid effort for a debut run, and it will be interesting to see what he can do if breaking on terms in what doesn’t look the hottest of races.
Kempton 7:15 India @ 9/2 with BetVictor
Deadly Reel ought to go well here for Archie Watson, but will need to find improvement for the first time blinkers. In addition, although her breeding would suggest this step up in trip ought to suit, she didn’t look to be crying out for the additional distance when losing second inside the final furlong over 1m last time out. She looks short enough at around the 2/1 mark.
The one I like here is the Michael Bell runner, India. Disappointing on debut at Newmarket last term, she stepped up markedly for her first encounter with an all-weather surface over a mile at this track next time out, only being beaten by four lengths in the end. She looks the most classily bred of these, and from the same family as Big Orange, there must be a chance that this step up in trip will squeeze out more. Michael Bell is 14% with three year olds on the all-weather as opposed to 12% with his juveniles, which offers further hope for improvement.
