Exeter had to throw in an extra midweek game and they just edged their way to a win over the struggling Crewe. It did snap a three-match winless streak that they were on though and they head out on the road again on the weekend as they look to take points off Grimsby. The Mariners are pretty much in the same boat as Crewe are, struggling for wins and only three points better off than the Railway Man. So that could afford Exeter the change to collect more points as they challenge for a play off place.

Will they be able to make it back to back wins as that midweek victory came out on the road? Exeter have won two of their last three road games now and both of those wins were by a 2-1 scoreline. Four of Exeter’s last six league wins have been by a 2-1 scoreline so that is something to consider for this one. Overall the Grecians are W6 D3 L7 for the season on their travels. Eleven of their wins this season (home and away) have all been by a one-goal margin, so you wouldn’t expect them to roll out a big victory. On top of that, they haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last nine games away from home as well.
