Betting Tip: Mansfield v Barnet

Out of nowhere Mansfield are really running hot and pushing for automatic promotion now. They have some very strong form rolling along now and they have a great chance at yet another three points as they host bottom side Barnet on the weekend. The Bees have drawn their last two games, but take on a side who are undefeated in their last eight and who are looking mightily assured of themselves.

Mansfield Form

The Stags bolstered their attack on the deadline day in the January transfer window, bringing in attacking midfielder Matt Penney and striker Ricky Miller. That gives them a little extra to work with as they are really on a fantastic run and pushing for promotion. They are unbeaten in their last eight league games now and have lost only one of their last sixteen. It’s been fantastic stuff from them and they are on a three-match winning streak at home, unbeaten in seven at Field Mill. So they really have some strong wind in their sails and it would be a surprise if they didn’t extend their form here. The Stags have scored at least two goals in each of their last five home games now and while they haven’t been particularly solid at the back, there is a decent chance of them winning to nil in this one against the bottom side.

Barnet Form

The Bees have taken back to back league draws, holding out against Lincoln and Cheltenham. Still, those are the only points in their last seven league games and isn’t doing much for their survival. They need wins. They are winless in five on the road now (D1 L4) and they have only won twice on their travels as it is worth a W2 D3 L10 record away from home this season. They have tallied only the two goals in their last four road games as well. So it’s hard to see them putting up a great contest in this game against such an in-form side. Barnet have yet to keep a clean sheet away from home this season and they are going to be highly vulnerable in this one. They start the weekend in big trouble as it is, five points away from safety and with wins evading them.

Head to Head News

Mansfield were held to a 1-1 draw earlier in the season against Barnet at the Hive Stadium but you would imagine that they have to do better in this one. The Stags though have not won any of their last three home games against the Bees (D2 L1) and suffered a 1-0 loss in this corresponding fixture last season. Each of the last four meetings between the two sides have gone under 2.5 goals.
