Betting Tip: Luton v Exeter

League Two leaders Luton suffered a slip up at home in midweek as Wycombe rolled into Kenilworth Road and took a 3-2 win. That shattered the great home form that the Hatters were on. Now they have to gather themselves as they face another tough side in the form of Exeter. The Grecians took a fantastic win out at Notts County last weekend but they will have had a day’s less rest than Luton going into this game having faced Forest Green on Wednesday.

Luton Form

A 3-2 loss at home against Wycombe in midweek was a bit of a dent in Luton’s form and they are now only W3 L3 in their last six played. That’s not bad of course, especially when that loss against the Chairboys snapped a brilliant W5 D1 record that the Hatters were on at Kenilworth Road. Overall this season Luton are W11 D1 L3 at home and they have been leading at half time in nine of their fifteen home games. They have netted at least one goal in each of their last seven home fixtures and have four clean sheets in their last seven on home soil. Five of their last six league wins have been with a clean sheet so there may be a tempter in backing them to win to nil, even though this is a tough game. Luton have averaged just shy of three goals per game at home this season which is stunning. They have also claimed a home clean sheet in 47% of their fixtures.

Exeter Form

The Grecians are no pushovers though and they are running hot at the moment with a three-match winning streak under their belt and in that sequence, they beat both Coventry and Notts County, fellow top five sides. So they will pose a threat. Their away form though hasn’t been all that great for a while and indeed, their win at Notts County on January 20th snapped a five-match losing streak on the road that they were on, winless in seven away from home before that victory. So that means that they are a little shaky on their travels, but they are on a five-match scoring streak away from home. The Imps have found the back of the net in 79% of their away games this season and overall home and away have netted in their last ten. This should be such a good contest.

Head to Head News

Luton were big 4-1 winners at Exeter earlier in the season and that extend their undefeated streak of form against the Grecians to six, so they certainly hold that advantage, winning four of those six games in that sequence. At Kenilworth Road, Luton have collected four points from their last two home games against Exeter, a 1-1 draw being played out in last season’s corresponding fixture. Both teams have scored in eight of the last nine meetings.

Luton v Exeter – Betting Odds and Predictions

Exeter doesn’t quite carry the same threat and with a day’s extra rest in their legs. But Luton looks good too. Tight game.

Top Betting Tip Luton v Exeter

Even Luton are prone to wobble and they were just overpowered by Wycombe’s attacking might in midweek.  Luton can get back to winning ways on home soil, and back them to do it to nil as they may be a really tight, low scoring game.
