Betting Tip: Grimsby v Cheltenham

Grimsby are on a shocking run of home form at the moment and the Mariners won’t be stepping out into a great atmosphere at Blundell Park. The natives are getting a bit restless because of their huge drop in form. Cheltenham have been battling along but have basically been treading water down in the bottom half of the table more than anything, but this looks as if it will be an even contest and the Robins may put up a decent account of themselves out on the road in this weekend duel.

Grimsby Form:

The Mariners were on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline out at Yeovil in midweek which means that they have lost back to back games. The reading gets worse the more you look back as well as they have taken just three points from a ten-match winless streak of form in League Two at the moment. They have failed to score in five of their last seven played as well and this is such a contrast to how well they were going right up until mid-December. It has been some decline for them and a worrying one at Blundell Park where they have gone winless in five and have lost their last four in a row there, scoring just the one goal in that sequence. It is tough times at the moment for the Mariners and these occasions call for a bit of grit and some cool heads. They have conceded in each of their last five home games and overall home and away in each of their last nine.

Cheltenham Form:

The Robins had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home against bottom side Barnet last weekend which they will have been a bit disappointed with. Cheltenham have now won just one of their last seven league games (D2 L4) so aren’t running in any particular great form. Away from home, they are all over the place with a W2 D2 L4 record in their last eight. The last time they picked up a clean sheet was in a victory over Barnet back on December 23rd so they don’t have one in any of their last seven and that’s hurting them. Heading into the weekend they are a healthy nine points clear of relegation problems, but a win would steady the ship for them. But this is a side who have only won three times away from Whaddon Road this term. As a positive for them though they have scored in each of their last eleven away games in the division and that should get them close to a win considering the poor form that the Mariners are in.

Grimsby v Cheltenham  Head to Head News:

Low scoring games have been a feature of games between these two at Blundell Park. In the last five between these two at Grimsby, there has been a total of four goals and that’s it. Cheltenham actually won three of those five games by a 1-0 scoreline with Grimsby getting a 1-0 win. It means the Mariners are winless in their last four at home against the Robins without having scored a single goal in that sequence.

Our Top Grimsby v Cheltenham Betting Tip:

Cheltenham have to be a bit of value here to go and collect an away win. Basically, Grimsby are really in the weeds at Blundell Park at the moment and the Robins may be able to take advantage of that and collect a nice three points for themselves. Away win.
