The FA Cup still has that old magic about it, especially when it throws up great fixtures like Yeovil v Manchester United. The two will duel in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday night from Huish Park and this should be a fantastic night out for the Glovers, even though they are being given little chance of actually winning the match against one of the top clubs in the country. That’s obvious but this is about enjoying the occasion and the payday for them.
The Glovers have bigger concerns this season, namely avoiding suffering a drop from League Two to non-league football. That’s their priority but they can enjoy this and they have already knocked higher-tiered opposition out of the FA Cup this season having gotten past Southend and Bradford during their campaign. It does no harm in dreaming of course, but the Glovers will realistically know that their FA Cup run is coming to an end.
Three times before they have met Manchester United in the FA Cup and they have come out on the losing end in each of them. Yeovil have failed to score in any of their three previous games against United, the most recent of them coming back in the FA Cup third round in January 2015, with United winning 2-0 at Huish Park. Will it be more of the same from Jose Mourinho’s men?
The Reds Devils are strong odds-on favourites to collect the victory and they are currently running on a four-match winning streak in all competitions and they have not conceded a goal in any of their last five matches played. It’s exactly what you would expect from a Jose Mourinho side and they should put in a professional enough job to be comfortable in this fixture.
