With Watford being torn apart by injuries and suspensions, they are having a rough time of things at the moment and this becomes a very tricky FA Cup tie for them as well. Bristol City have made waves this season as they in the Championship promotion picture and they knocked Watford out of the EFL Cup before going on to knock Manchester United out as well. Watford are 8/15 to get the win at home with the Robins at 6/1.
Watford Form:
Watford have really hit a poor stretch of the season with a W1 L6 record in their last seven games played. Their defence is just getting picked off and a large part of their problem is injuries to be fair to them. They haven’t looked ruthless enough at times though because they do have their scoring threat. Watford have scored in each of their last six home games but they have struggled for clean sheets all season. They have already suffered that EFL Cup home loss against Bristol City this season. This could well be wide open and both teams to score has to be marked up in this one.
Bristol City Form:
Bristol City have had a great season in the EFL Cup, taking out Watford, Stoke, Crystal Palace and Manchester United. However, they have the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final coming up in midweek and that means that they could sacrifice this game. There’s no reason to throw everything at this given that they are also trying to concentrate on promotion from the Championship. The Robins have lost back to back games heading into this one as well, taking a heavy 5-0 loss at Aston Villa on New Year’s Day. The Robins are a confident side and have only lost two away games all season. They may not be too interested in this though.
Head to Head News:
There was a meeting between these in this season’s EFL Cup which Bristol City won 3-2 at Vicarage Road. These two were paired up in the 2013/14 FA Cup and after a 1-1 draw at Ashton Gate, Watford won the replay back on home soil 2-0. Watford are W2 D1 from their three previous FA Cup games against Bristol City.
Top Betting Tips:
After a couple of league losses, the season may be catching up with the Robins a bit. Watford have a chance to ease some pressure off themselves with a win in this one. Back the home side to come through this is Bristol City can’t keep pushing on three different fronts.
