2018 kicks off in style with a number of intriguing looking Premier League matches. This time of year often sees upsets for the big teams with managers having to rotate their squads and injuries building up. We saw this on Sunday as Crystal Palace nearly sprung a huge shock to beat Manchester City, something which they would have done if they’d converted their injury time penalty. In this article I will be taking a look at Monday’s matches and building a 4-fold bet for you to take advantage of.
Everton v Manchester United
Two teams who have been struggling for form in recent weeks meet at Goodison Park on Monday. Jose Mourinho’s side drew yet another game last time out, being held to a 0-0 draw by Southampton, whilst Everton were beaten 2-1 by Bournemouth to make it three games without a win for Sam Allardyce. I’m backing Manchester United to pick up an important victory in this one, even without Romelu Lukaku who was stretchered off against Southampton.

Brighton & Hove Albion v Bournemouth
This is a game which Brighton manager, Chris Hughton, will be looking at as a very winnable fixture against an inconsistent Bournemouth side on Monday. Brighton have been fairly solid at home this season, losing just two of their ten matches at The AMEX Stadium and I’m backing them to pick up a win in this game. Bournemouth beat Everton last time out, but Eddie Howe’s side have been pretty dire recently and concede too many goals.

Leicester City v Huddersfield Town
Leicester’s form has been pretty poor over the Christmas period and Claude Puel’s side have now lost three of their last four matches. They will be confident of beating a Huddersfield Town side who have won just twice away from home this season on New Year’s Day though and if the attacking trio of Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and Demarai Gray are on song, then they should have too much quality for Huddersfield Town.

Stoke City v Newcastle United
Two teams in horrible form meet at The bet365 Stadium on New Year’s Day as Stoke City host Newcastle United. Newcastle have won just once in their last ten matches, whilst Stoke City have only gone one better, winning twice in the same period. Mark Hughes is under massive pressure after another embarrassing defeat in their last game, in which they lost 5-0 to Chelsea. There were also boos and jeers from the Newcastle United fans during their 0-0 draw with Brighton in the last match, so the pressure is on for both of these managers. I’m backing a victory for Newcastle in this one, but it could go either way.
