There is a massive clash in the round of sixteen in the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday night, when Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund meet up at the Allianz Arena to try and muscle their way through to the next round of the German Cup. Already these two have squared off twice this season and it follows on from a semi final victory in last season’s German Cup which was posted by Die Borussen. Will Munich be able to gain some revenge for that? Bayern are 2/5 odds on to grab the win, with Dortmund going as 5/1 underdogs.

Bayern Munich Form:
There has been some brilliant form produced by FC Hollywood recently. They have only lost the one fixture in their last sixteen played across all competitions and they have strung together an eleven match unbeaten streak of form at the Allianz Arena in all competitions since the start of the season, winning ten of those. So they aren’t going to be a pushover at all of course. They are dominating the Bundesliga again and can throw the kitchen sink at this because the winter break in Germany follows. They did have a battle out at RB Leipzig in the last round though, playing out a 0-0 draw after extra time and squeezing through on penalties. Still, they have Robert Lewandowski who can destroy any defence and they have already beaten BVB twice before this season, once in the Super Cup and once in the Bundesliga.
Borussia Dortmund Form:
The form of Dortmund hasn’t been terrific. They were going well out of the blocks but then really hit the skids around mid-October and have yet to put a real recovery together. They have improved to back to back wins going into this one but they have won just one of their last six games played in a W1 D1 L3 record and their defence has been a bit of shambles. They only have two away clean sheets in their last nine road games. However, they have made light work of progress in the German Cup so far, having rattled off nine unanswered goals in their two fixtures so far. They have held their own against Munich in recent Cup meetings, going W2 D2 L2 in their last six against Bayern in the competition. It’s questionable as to whether or not their defence is there at the moment though.
Head to Head News:
The two played out a 2-2 draw in the German Super Cup, before the start of the season, wich Bayern won in a penalty shoot out. Then Bayern won 3-1 at BVB in a Bundesliga meeting in November. So they are up and their current form smashes that of Dortmund’s out of the water. Each of the last four meetings between the two clubs have seen at least four goals in them.
Top Betting Tips: Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund
Bayern are carrying the better form of the two, they are unbeaten at home this season and they have this home advantage. It stacks up to them getting through to the next round of the competition. BVB have improved in their last two games, but still, there’s a big ask for them because of their weak defence.
