The weekend is rolling round again, which means another action packed two days of sport. This weekend sees two of the biggest derby matches in world football taking place with Liverpool hosting Everton and Manchester United hosting Manchester City on Sunday. With the Formula 1 season having finished and the Ashes taking a week long break, the focus of this weekend’s betting tips will be football. In this article I have been looking ahead to the weekend’s matches and have come up with five betting tips for you; some of them short odds and some of them longer odds.
Wolves to beat Sunderland and BTTS (YES) – 9/4
Wolves look like dead certs to win the Championship this season and they currently lead the way at the top by four points. On Saturday they come up against a Sunderland side who find themselves joint bottom of the league, having picked up just 14 points from their opening 20 matches. Former Wales boss, Chris Coleman, is now in charge of the Black Cats and I’m backing them to score, but lose on Saturday. Sunderland have scored in 11 of their last 12 matches, so I think they’ll find the net again on Saturday, but ultimately lose.

Crystal Palace to beat Bournemouth – 19/20
Things have improved for Crystal Palace under Roy Hodgson and they are unbeaten in their last four matches heading into Saturday’s game against Bournemouth. I’m backing Palace to win this match and those odds look very good to me. Bournemouth have been very inconsistent this season and if Wilfried Zaha can get at the defence, I think Palace will have too much quality in attack here.

Philipe Coutinho to Score at Anytime vs Everton – 6/4
Liverpool sealed top spot in their Champions League group on Wednesday night with a 7-0 win against Spartak Moscow. Philipe Coutinho captained The Reds in that game and scored three goals, taking his tally for the season to 9 in 14. I’m backing him to find the net again on Sunday against a porous Everton defence and with the Brazilian ace likely to be on penalty and free kick duties, he should get plenty of chances.
Manchester United to beat Manchester City – 12/5
Considering Manchester United are at home and looking at Manchester City’s recent form, those odds of 12/5 on Manchester United to win are very, very tempting. Of course it will be difficult and it has been made even harder with Paul Pogba’s suspension, but City have struggled in recent weeks, winning their last three league matches 2-1 thanks to late goals. City also lost to Shakhtar Donetsk in the week and even though it was a much changed team, it still ended their unbeaten run. If anyone can engineer a victory in a one off match, it is Jose Mourinho, and I’m backing him to do just that on Sunday.

Arsenal (-1) v Southampton – 9/4
Arsenal have been rampant in attack in recent weeks, putting five past Bournemouth and winning 6-0 in the Europa League on Thursday. When you look at last weekend’s 3-1 loss to Manchester United, Arsenal could have easily scored five or six if it wasn’t for the brilliance of David de Gea who set a new record for shots saved in a single match. I’m backing Arsenal to do the business against Southampton on Sunday and I’m expecting them to win by a couple of clear goals.
