Minnesota Timberwolves vs Los Angeles Lakers: Current situation
Minnesota was very happy to get the split in the first two games, they are looking to make it out of the first round for the 2nd consecutive season, after making it to the West Finals last year. So far in this series Anthony Edwards hasn’t produced as it has been expected from him, he will be the key to Minnesota’s success moving forward.
The Lakers came under a lot of criticism following the series opener loss to the T’Wolves, but thankfully head coach JJ Redick was able to snap his team out of it and now we’re looking at a best-of-5 series with things knotted up at 1-1. The experience is certainly on the Lakers side here, especially with LeBron James playing in his 22nd NBA season at the age of 40.
Minnesota Timberwolves Stats & Form
The level of physicality went up in Game 2 and Minnesota just didn’t respond properly. They were held to just 85 points, one of their lowest point totals of the season. Julius Randle and Anthony Edwards were the only two players to score in double digits, the bench play was a massive disappointment with just 9 points coming from Naz Reid, while Donte Divincenzo also added only 4 points.
Los Angeles Lakers Stats & Form
Luka Doncic continued his stellar play with another 31 point, 12 rebound and 9 assist performance for the Lakers in Game 2. He got some help from LeBron James who had 21 and 11, while Austin Reaves added 16. However, the thing that won the Lakers the game was their ability to turn up the defense and get timely stops whenever it mattered. Despite scoring only 13 points in the 4th, the game was never in doubt.
Minnesota Timberwolves vs Los Angeles Lakers: Head-to-Head
It’s been a dog fight whenever the Timberwolves and Lakers play, Friday’s game will be the 7th meeting this season between the two teams. All 6 of those games have gone under the total and the way this series is shaping up, we could be in for another slow paced game on Friday. During the regular season the T’Wolves won both games at Target Center by double digits.

Betting tip and prediction: Minnesota Timberwolves vs Los Angeles Lakers (25.04.2025)
It is gut check time for the Lakers who head to Target Center for the next two games, a building where they’ve lost 4 games in a row. Not much has separated the two teams so far in this series, but with Minnesota’s role players now expected to perform a lot better playing at home, you have to wonder will the T’Wolves blow this series wide open. The big advantage they have here is the presence of Rudy Gobert, especially on the defensive end where the Lakers just don’t have a big enough body to match up with him. Rudy was not used in Game 2 the same way he was in the opener and the Lakers won the rebounding battle as a result. With the series now moving to Minnesota, it is up to head coach Chris Finch to get this big fella into positions to be more successful. The hopes of the Lakers once again are in the hands of Luka Doncic and that’s not necessarily a bad thing going into Target Center. In this building Doncic is averaging 30 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8.8 assists per game in his last 5 visits, all with the Dallas Mavericks. We all still remember how he abused Gobert in last year’s West Finals, he will undoubtedly look to do the same over the next two games. For Game 2 we would give a slight edge to Minnesota, but we could be in for the first close game of this series. Don’t expect a lot of points to be scored, but count on the crowd to carry Minnesota to a vital win here. Back the Timberwolves to cover.
