Memphis Grizzlies vs Oklahoma City Thunder: Current situation
From a respectable top 3 seed in the West over the first couple of months this season, to now being the laughing stock of the NBA barely making the Playoffs through the play-in and losing the first 2 games by a combined 70 points. That’s the season of the Memphis Grizzlies in a nutshell. Major changes are expected this offseason, a new head coach is expected to come in, but also their star player Ja Morant could be on the move.
Oklahoma City is currently enjoying themselves after recording a 6th win in a row. They head to Memphis on a 15-1 SU run over their last 16 road games, we don’t see them lifting their foot off the gas pedal any time soon. The sooner this series is over the more time they’ll have to rest for the winner of the 4 vs 5 match-up between the Clippers and Nuggets.
Memphis Grizzlies Stats & Form
Recording only 17 assists as a team in a postseason game is alarming and that’s one of the things the Grizzlies will have to work on ahead of the next two games. The trio of Jaren Jackson Jr., Ja Morant and Desmond Bane looked a lot better compared to Game 1, but it still wasn’t enough to even get the Grizzlies close.
Oklahoma City Thunder Stats & Form
Game 2 was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s best game of the series so far, as he finished with 27 points. However, it took him 29 shots to get there, including a 3-for-10 effort from downtown. Luckily for Shai, his teammates picked up the slack and players like Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren each went for 20+ points to go up 2-0 in the series.
Memphis Grizzlies vs Oklahoma City Thunder: Head-to-Head
So far the Grizzlies and Thunder have met a total of 6 times this season and Oklahoma City has won by 24, 13, 17, 21, 51 and 19 points. They’ve now won 10 straight meetings while also covering the spread in all 6 this year. Playing at FedEx Forum could be a little challenging though, they’ve covered the spread just 3 times in their last 10 visits.
Memphis Grizzlies – Oklahoma City Thunder Odds

Betting tip and prediction: Memphis Grizzlies vs Oklahoma City Thunder (24.04.2025)
Game 2 between the Grizzlies and Thunder was a lot closer than the series opener, but a 19-point loss isn’t something you can brag about if you’re Memphis. The team did look a lot more alive compared to Game 1, with Jaren Jackson Jr. and Ja Morant finally scoring on a consistent basis, but falling behind by 15 in the opening quarter set the tone for the rest of the game and the team just could never recover. The Thunder are hoping to keep the momentum going in Game 3 as well. This series has been an odd one for MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who had a very inefficient first two games, perhaps a chance of scenery will do him well here? The Thunder are just an all-around better team and no matter what the Grizzlies do, they have a counter for it. Their advantage on the boards was once again very noticeable as they outrebounded the Grizzlies 55 to 42, grabbing a total of 16 offensive boards. In the end it all comes down to effort and we’re just not seeing that from the Grizzlies in the first two games of this series. They’ve now lost all 6 meetings against the Thunder by double-digits and things aren’t looking promising even with the series now moving to Memphis for the next two games. In many ways this will be the game of the season for the home team, losing likely means a sweep because the team’s morale will be shot if they go down 3-0. We are going to give the home team the benefit of the doubt here and back them to cover the spread, but Oklahoma City should still come out on top here in a close game.
