New York Knicks vs Detroit Pistons: Current situation
The Knicks have high expectations entering this postseason after going 51-31 SU in the regular season. Last year injuries prevented them from a deep playoff run as they lost to the Indiana Pacers in the East semis with half the team being on the injury report. Although they lost, the Pistons will be happy with how they presented themselves in their first postseason games since 2019. Cade Cunningham had an off night shooting the ball going just 8-for-21 from the field and 1-for-4 from three, but he still finished with a respectable 21 points and 12 assists. Veteran forward Tobias Harris had 25 points and 6 rebounds in the loss.

Betting tip and prediction: New York Knicks vs Detroit Pistons (21.04.2025)
Game 1 of the Knicks vs Pistons series was the highest scoring game on Day 1 of the 2025 NBA Playoffs. That says a lot considering we even had one of the games go into overtime and still the Knicks and Pistons racked up 235 points which is a substantial amount for a postseason game. New York needed a big 4th quarter to turn things around, they outscored the Pistons 40-21 over the final 12 minutes to get the all-important win in Game 1. The experience of the Knicks really showed, unlike the Pistons they’ve actually been on this stage before so they know what it takes to win games like these. Regardless of how this series plays out, this will be a good learning experience for the young Pistons who are in their first postseason as a group. Adjustments will be made for Game 2 from both sides, the Pistons scoring was alright in Game 1, what they really need to focus is the defensive end in Monday’s game. The Knicks destroyed them on the inside winning the points in the paint battle by scoring 62 compared to just 46 by the Pistons. Turnovers also played a factor as the Pistons committed 21 compared to just 11 by the Knicks. All of these things are a product of youth and inexperience on the Pistons side of things, as this series goes on they will clean things up exponentially. However, the Knicks are in the driver’s seat here and we do not expect the Pistons to win a game until this series shifts to the Motor City. Back the Knicks to go up 2-0 here.
