Boston Celtics vs Phoenix Suns: Current situation
In their first game back from the West coast where they beat every single team in their way, the Celtics suffered an unexpected 124-103 loss to the Miami Heat which ended a 9-game win streak. With 6 games left the Celtics are now 5 games back of the Cavaliers for the number one spot in the East, unless a historic meltdown by the Cavs happens the men in green are likely to enter the postseason as the 2nd seed.
Phoenix has now wasted 3 opportunities in a row to catch up with the 10th seeded Sacramento Kings. They’ve lost 4 games in a row, it looks almost as if neither team is willing to take part in the play-in tournament. Kevin Durant has missed the last couple of games with an ankle sprain, we are unlikely to see him at TD Garden on Friday.
Boston Celtics Stats & Form
The biggest issue the Celtics had in Wednesday’s loss to Miami was their lack of execution from downtown. Just one player on the roster shot 50% from downtown, as a team the Cs finished shooting under 28% on 43 attempts. Jayson Tatum had a game to forget with just 16 points on 4-for-17 from the field, he will look to turn things around against the Suns on Friday.
Phoenix Suns Stats & Form
Devin Booker took his offense to a different level and had 39 points to go along with 11 assists, but the Suns still fell short in an epic game against the Bucks on Tuesday night. Kevin Durant’s absence was felt on both ends, defensively the Suns couldn’t do much about Giannis who torched them for 37 points and 11 rebounds. Brook Lopez also had a game to remember with 22, if the Suns don’t pick it up on that end it could be another blowout loss against Boston.
Boston Celtics vs Phoenix Suns: Head-to-Head
These two teams met a week ago in Phoenix and Boston dominated the game 132-102 despite being without Jayson Tatum. It was their 3rd win in a row in head-to-head meetings, they’re looking to sweep the 2nd regular season series in a row. Friday’s game will be the 139th regular season meeting all time, with the Celtics leading 78 to 60 in wins.

Betting tip and prediction: Boston Celtics vs Phoenix Suns (04.04.2025)
The Suns’ play-in tournament chances are hanging by a thread and his game could very well seal their faith. No Kevin Durant means a lot harder time scoring the basketball against arguably the best defense in the NBA. Boston ranks 5th best this season in points allowed per 100 possessions at 110.6. When KD doesn’t play the Suns are posting a 116.4 offensive rating, that’s 1.5 less compared to when he does play. But his impact goes beyond just scoring the ball, the likes of Tatum and co. will have a much easier time scoring on the Suns here as they don’t have to deal with Durant’s length on the other end. Boston has pretty much secured the number 2 seed in the East and they’ll be playing without any pressure here. That should bring the best out of their reserves who have shown strong play in a lot of games this season. Even if Boston decides to rest a couple of star players here they should be able to handle a mediocre at best Suns team. Phoenix has failed to cover the spread in 5 straight games, they are on a 5-game losing streak in road games and are just 1-5 ATS/SU over the past 6 meetings with the defending champions. With the over cashing 7 times in the last 10 meetings at TD Garden it is safe to say we can expect a high scoring game here – that scenario should benefit the home team so let’s back the Celtics to cover the spread.
