Chelsea welcome struggling Swansea City to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night in what looks a pretty one sided affair on paper. Chelsea come into this game in 3rd place in the table, three points behind Manchester United and a further nine behind leaders Manchester City. Antonio Conte knows that his side must pick up another three points if they are to keep pace at the top of the league and he will be confident of doing that against a Swansea City side who find themselves down in 19th place, having won just two matches this season.

Chelsea
Chelsea were a little fortunate to pick up a 1-1 draw away at Liverpool in their last match and it took a fluke Willian goal to grab a late draw for Conte’s side after former player Mohamed Salah had given Liverpool a second half lead. Eden Hazard was again impressive in that game and he will be licking his lips at taking on this Swansea City team on Wednesday. Conte may decide to freshen up his side a little and we could see the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Willian and Pedro all come into the starting line up for this one. Michy Batshuayi remains on the treatment table, but he is the only recognised first teamer unavailable to Conte at the moment.
Swansea City
Swansea City have really struggled this season and in their last game they drew 0-0 with Bournemouth as their strikers drew yet another blank. Paul Clement will be pleased they managed to end a run of four successive draws, but it is now five games without a win for the Welsh side and they look like they are really going to struggle this season. Clement cannot blame injuries, with Kyle Bartley the only man he currently has unavailable. The Swans are desperately missing Fernando Llorente and Gylfi Sigurdsson this season and without their goals they look destined for the drop.
Talking Points
- Swansea City have had just 4 shots on target in their last 3 matches, failing to score in any of them.
- Chelsea have a fairly poor home record this season, having won just 3 of their 6 matches at Stamford Bridge, and they currently find themselves in 9th place in the Home Table.
- Swansea City’s 7 goals is the lowest total of any team in the Premier League, but only Bournemouth have conceded less goals than them in the bottom half of the table.
Prediction
Chelsea should win this game comfortably; Swansea City have been really poor this season and the goal shy Welsh club will struggle to get a goal in this game you feel. Alvaro Morata and Eden Hazard will be desperate to get on the score sheet after missing out against Liverpool and I’m backing Chelsea to pick up a comfortable win in this one.
Betting Tips
Chelsea start this game as huge favourites at odds of 1/5, whilst an away win for Swansea City is priced up at 18/1 with the draw available at 7/1. I can’t see Swansea scoring in this one, so Chelsea to win and BTTS (NO) at 4/6 looks like a really solid bet to me. I fancy Alvaro Morata to have a big say in the outcome of this game and so the 13/5 on him to score first or the 8/13 on him to score at anytime both look good bets to me.
