Eurovision Song Contest: what do the bookmakers say?
In three months’ time, the Eurovision Song Contest will kick off. Claude will be representing the Netherlands in Basel, Switzerland. The French-speaking singer will be performing his song C’est La Vie in the first semi-final on 13 May. The song was supposed to be officially released on 27 February, but someone beat Claude to it: the song was leaked a day earlier via X. According to the bookmakers, the Netherlands is among the top three favourites.
Eurovision Song Contest 2025 favourites
Bookmakers have put Claude in third place with his song C’est La Vie. The odds fluctuate between 6.50 and 9.00. Converted to a probability, this means that Claude has an 11 to 15% chance of winning the Song Contest. This makes the Netherlands a real outsider for the win, but not the biggest favourite. Claude’s song has risen in the polls since its release, as he originally came in with odds between 20.00 and 30.00, which put him outside the top ten.
There are several countries where the artist and/or song are still unknown. One of these is already ahead of the Netherlands: Sweden, which is even considered the big favourite. The Melodifestivalen will take place in Sweden from 1 February to 8 March. The winner will represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. One of the contenders is Mans Zelmerlöw. The Swede also participated in Eurovision in 2015 and won the singing contest with Heroes. John Lundvik also has a chance. With the song Too Late For Love, he came in fifth in 2019, when Duncan Laurence won with his song Arcade. According to the bookmakers, Sweden has a 3.5% chance of winning, with odds of 29%.
France is provisionally in second place, with odds and a chance between Sweden and the Netherlands. Louane will represent her country, but with which song is still the question. Other countries in the top twelve are Finland, Estonia, Austria, Israel, the Czech Republic, Belgium and Ukraine.
Eurovision Song Contest 2025 entries
Sweden and France are the favourites, but at the moment neither the songs nor the Swedish artist have been announced. Finland is an outsider, along with the Netherlands. Erika Vikman has the honour of taking the stage. She has caused quite a stir with her song Ich Komme, which is accompanied by a unique performance. The song is doing well with the bookmakers.
Tommy Cash seems to have made a good impression on Estonia alone with the bookmakers. The half-English, half-Italian song Espresso Macchiato is not appreciated by Italians. In the song he makes references to (stereotypical) Italian words and concepts. Tommy Cash also appeared on Joost Klein’s new album Unity. After his disqualification last year, Klein is clearly no longer a fan of the EBU. In the song United by Music – in which he collaborates with Tommy Cash – he sings ‘Fuck the EBU, I don’t want to go to court, the less get less and the more get more’. It is striking that Tommy Cash and his song are no longer visible on the official YouTube channels of the Song Contest.
Austria is also doing well in the betting shops. Singer JJ is trying to win over the public with Wasted Love. The song will be released on 6 March. JJ’s music is often a combination of opera and pop, two genres that at first glance seem to be from completely different worlds. However, for the singer it is a golden combination. The Eurovision song is also expected to be in that style.
Then we move on to Claude. This year’s Dutch entry will not be singing in Dutch, but in French and English. The song C’est La Vie is an ode to mothers. The song is in line with what we have come to expect from Claude: cheerful, but within the lines. The song was released a day earlier than planned because it was leaked on social media. Claude himself responded laconically: ‘C’est la vie’. The Dutchman is in eleventh place according to the bookmakers.

We take a look at the foreign bookmakers. Sweden is the top favourite with odds of 3.5. After that, the odds increase rapidly. The Netherlands could still make it into the top ten, but that depends on further reactions to Claude’s song. As mentioned before, it is also possible that he will drop in the rankings because a number of artists and songs are not yet known.
Eurovision Song Contest 2025
The 69th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Switzerland, after that country finished in first place last year. Nemo won the European song contest with the song The Code. He was the third Swiss winner ever, after Lys Assia and Céline Dion. Croatia and Ukraine came second and third in 2024.
