With the speculation mounting over Marco Silva’s future at Vicarage Road, Watford have another chance to underline their progress this season as they face off against Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United. United bounced back well from defeat to Chelsea to beat Newcastle in their last Premier League game but their inability to put games to bed reared its ugly head once more in the Champions League as they lost 1-0 to FC Basel in Switzerland.

Watford
The Hornets have been in remarkable form this season and find themselves sitting pretty in 8th place in the Premier League with 18 points from their 12 games so far. Victory over Arsenal in mid-October, was followed up with 3 consecutive defeats to Chelsea, Stoke and Everton but Marco Silva’s men bounced back well to beat West Ham 2-0 last time out. Watford have only lost at home twice this term and are a real threat going forward – particularly with Richarlison who will be looking to add to his tally of 5 goals already this term.
Manchester United
United as always have had a strong start to the season – having lost just twice in their 12 games and the Red Devils have only conceded 6 goals so far this term in the Premier League. Defeats to Chelsea and Huddersfield have punctuated their title charge for the time being but the reds have plenty of fire power in pursuit of the 8 point gap they have to make up on Manchester United. Romelu Lukaku scored his first goal in nearly 2 months against Newcastle and the Belgian has now scored 8 league goals this term.
Head to Head
As with most teams in the Premier League, Manchester United hold a dominant lead in the head to head records between the sides – with 18 wins to Watford’s 5 historically whilst another 5 games have ended as draws. Watford handed Jose Mourinho his first defeat in charge of United last season with a 3-1 win in the equivalent fixture whilst United got their revenge in February 2017 with a 2-0 win at Old Trafford.
