2019 Cricket World Cup – Early Predictions
2019 is set to be a massive year for cricket, especially in England. Not only do English cricket fans have the Ashes series to look forward to, they also have the prospect of a home World Cup. The 2019 Cricket World Cup will be played between the 30th May and 14th July.
The venues for the tournament will be in England and Wales, with the final being held at Lord’s. The One Day International format sees each team bowl 50 overs and the team with the most runs from their innings wins the game.
The ten qualifying teams will play in one group, with all ten teams playing each other once and the top four teams progressing to the semi-final. The question is, which team is the favourite to win the 2019 World Cup?
Home Advantage
England are the bookmaker’s favourites to win the 2019 Cricket World Cup at 2/1 with William Hill. Not only are England the form side in terms of the 50 over format of the game but they also have home advantage, which could prove crucial.
The Three Lions have a very deep batting order including Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali. The depth of bowling does not match that of England’s batting but it would be a shock if they did not at least reach the final and make up for their poor showing in 2015.
India to Challenge the Hosts
Perhaps the team best equipped to defeat England at the 2019 Cricket World Cup is India. The top of their batting order is superior to any team in the tournament with Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli.
India’s middle order could be their main issue and if teams can get through the top order, India may find it tough. However, they have more than enough to make the semi-final and will look to the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah to take wickets. You can back India to win the 2019 Cricket World Cup at 10/3 with BetVictor.
Other Contenders
New Zealand reached the final of the 2015 Cricket World Cup only to lose to Australia in the final. It would be a big achievement for the Black Caps to reach the final again four years later but in Kane Williamson they have one of the best batsmen in the world plus a top bowling attack including Trent Boult and Tim Southee.
- New Zealand make an interesting bet to win the 2019 Cricket World Cup at 8/1 with William Hill.
- Other teams fancied in the betting include Australia at 5/1, South Africa at 7/1 and Pakistan at 9/1.
